Position Information:
BreakForth Solutions is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Application Architect to join the AWS Cloud development effort of the team supporting our federal customer’s Chief Information Officer. The candidate should have AWS Cloud experience, working with AWS native tools. Experience working in Federal IT organizations and with the AWS Landing Zone (LZ) environment is preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Work with the AWS team and stakeholders to architect and design application prototypes on AWS that are scalable and can expand across Federal customer’s component agencies, and external government stakeholders.
- Consult with vendor product specialists/sales, independent research organizations, on-site support developers, engineers, and fellow architects on the latest No-Code and Low Code options that are available and adhere to department compliance and policy standards and technology.
- Leverage a broad-based understanding of AWS Application Development Services to design enterprise application solutions that can be deployed in AWS.
- Design and deliver dynamically scalable, available, fault-tolerant, reliable, and secure Cloud Applications on AWS.
- Provide expert guidance to development teams regarding Cloud Application development.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and training to the software developers working/supporting the application as needed.
- Manage the development of technical artifacts including Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), Detailed Technical Design, Security Architecture Plan, Services Description Document per application development project.
- Produce Application architectural framework documents (i.e., white papers, guidance documents, best practices, technical reports, etc.).
- Work with stakeholders managing and using the application during User Acceptance Testing.
- Clearly communicate Cloud application development concepts to individuals of various technical abilities.
- Thorough understanding of Cloud application development, testing, and data migration tools and techniques.
- Work with stakeholders managing and using the application during User Acceptance Testing.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge in Application Architecture and IT infrastructure.
- Experience working in an AWS Cloud environment and an understanding of AWS native tools.
- Proven work experience as an Application Architect.
Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Cloud Application Architect.
- Have or be able to obtain a Department of Justice Public Trust Investigation, Tier 2.
- Have an AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification, Professional level preferred.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Node.js, PHP, Python, and Ruby on Rails.
- Demonstrated knowledge of concepts of designing and developing dynamic Cloud solutions and moving parts involved in continuous integration and delivery.
- Demonstrated understanding and skill of DevOps, web services and application programming interfaces (APIs).
- Experience with Tooling and Automation to enable seamless automation of infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
- Knowledge of cloud security principles to protect cloud data from unauthorized users and malicious hackers.
- Ability to integrate and automate an organization’s IT system processes.
- Experience working with legacy information systems.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise computing and operating systems (OS) and cloud computing platforms, such as Linux, Windows, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to share insights with stakeholders of all levels, including entry-level programmers, business managers, project team members, and senior executives.
