Job Title: AWS Certified Cloud Architect/Engineer
Location: Remote, but preferred onsite in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $140,000 - $165,000
Job Summary:
Omitron is seeking a highly motivated senior AWS Architect/Engineer with experience to support its efforts in assisting NASA, OSC, USSF, and other mission partners. The successful candidate will have a significant role in developing, integrating, and securing Omitron's cloud systems throughout the development and deployment lifecycle to ensure the secure orchestration of network and infrastructure operations.
As a senior AWS Architect/Engineer at Omitron, you will work with a fantastic team of talented software, hardware, and astrophysicists leading the industry in Command and Control system solutions. The position is open for remote or onsite work, with the candidate reporting to the Colorado Springs, CO, office.
You will gain experience with the entire platform lifecycle, including design, development, testing, delivery, and maintenance. In addition to working with other disciplines, our developers are exposed to various technologies, including multi-tiered architectures, Cloud Services, and microservices.
Job Description:
As an AWS Certified DevOps Engineer at Omitron, you will be vital in building, testing, and maintaining our AWS infrastructure. You will work hand-in-hand with our development and operations teams, leveraging your expertise to ensure the implementation of secure and efficient strategies throughout the software development lifecycle. Your ability to integrate AWS services, Kubernetes, and other cloud platforms like VMware and Azure will significantly contribute to our continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure scalable AWS infrastructure and application architectures.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate DevOps best practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability management for our AWS infrastructure, applications, and services.
  • Establish and manage security monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to proactively detect and respond to security incidents.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with AWS and general security standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Educate team members on AWS best practices and secure coding techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in AWS, DevOps, and related technologies.
  • Maintain competency with NIST.SP.800-171, NIST.SP.800-53, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) controls.
  • Maintain a positive security posture for Omitron's on-premises, Azure, and AWS development environments. 
  • Provide first-line support to Omitron's developers, customers, and users.   
  • Willingness and ability to quickly expand technical skills, capabilities, and understanding and apply them to solution development.

Desired Skills and Experiences:
 
  • Proven self-motivation with a "whatever it takes" mindset.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a solutions Architect or SR solutions engineer focused on network, cloud, endpoint, or operational security.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an AWS engineering, architecture, DevOps, or similar role.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with other cloud services such as VMware and Azure.
  • Experience with on-premises hardware such as VxRails, Juniper firewalls, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Dell Switching.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Solid understanding of secure software development practices and technologies.
  • Familiarity with common security frameworks, standards, and guidelines (e.g., NIST, CIS, OWASP).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve security issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-departmental collaboration on strategic initiatives.
  • Proven expertise in networking and security.
  • Experience managing executive-level relationships.
  • Creative and concise communication skills to influence (written and verbal).
