AWS Application Architect (Hybrid, Des Moines, IA)

We are currently looking for an AWS Application Architect for our client, a State of Iowa entity. The role's focus is to provide technical leadership in architecting, implementing, and operationalizing AWS cloud hosting zones, security, full-stack automation, monitoring, and developer experience in a tax modernization project. This role will be part of a software team that works on mission-critical applications using Agile methodologies.

This contract position is long-term with current funding approved until 6/30/2023 and funding for this position will renew on 7/1/2023 through 5/30/2026. Further extensions are likely, funding is approved every 12 months. 40 hours per week role. This is a hybrid role that requires onsite visits to our client's office in Des Moines, IA. The preferred candidates should reside locally in/around Des Moines, IA.

This is a W-2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and 401K are offered.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with Development, and Infrastructure teams with the goal of architecting the applications and how they leverage infrastructure services in cloud environments with a focus on security, full-stack automation, monitoring, and developer experience.
• Be the developer advocate for Cloud capabilities and implement easy-to-use hybrid cloud environments.
• Re-architecting the components to industry-leading architecture and frameworks, with the goal of providing better service to both the agency staff and the end-users while positioning the agency for future technological improvements.
• Use configuration management, orchestration, and management tooling to ensure cloud environments meet operational and security standards.

Requirements:

• 15 years of experience in SOA and Microservices development, establishing coding practices, code review standards and security protocols, Java, Jakarta EE, JSON, XML, Hibernate/OpenJPA, SOAP and REST web services, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Cloud, Spring Batch, SQL, PL/SQL
• 8+ years of experience in design, estimate, and governance of AWS Cloud architecture, AWS network, and security engineering principles in AWS EC2, AWS EKS, AWS Lambda, AWS S3, API Gateway, AWS IAM, Docker, Kubernetes
• 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture planning, estimating, application migration to AWS and cloud governance, Cloud-native and Serverless technologies.
• 5+ years of experience in Okta integration through SAML and/or JWT, GIT & Bucket
• 5 years of experience in Jenkins pipeline, Bitbucket pipeline, or AWS Code Pipeline
• Experience in establishing coding practices, code review standards, and security protocols.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Networking experience
