Job description

The Net Zero Assistant Vice President is part of Citi's Sustainability & ESG team, which is responsible for the development and execution of Citi's Sustainable Progress Strategy (https://www.citigroup.com/citi/sustainability/), Net Zero Plan and related key initiatives. The Sustainability & ESG team manages environmental, climate change, human rights and other stakeholder and business issues in partnership with Citi's businesses, risk functions and operational teams. The analyst reports to the SVP, Sustainability & ESG, who reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer.
Job Responsibilities:
Net Zero:

  • Support Citi's internal reporting, and responses to key ESG surveys and ratings agencies on Net Zero and financed emissions, and other topics
  • Identify and trouble-shoot / problem solve issues with data or results, including validating data and models
  • Participate in engagements with key financed emissions reporting and target setting framework developers to understand their methodologies and stay current on emerging trends as well as expectations for transparency and reporting
  • Manage tracking of new methodology developments
  • Prepare and maintain presentation content, talking points and reporting materials related to Net Zero developments, trends and progress
  • Support internal engagement on Net Zero related topics

General:
  • Provide support to the Sustainability & ESG team as needed on Citi's sustainability and ESG priorities such as Citi's sustainability strategy, stakeholder engagement, employee engagement and related projects and initiatives as needed
  • Develop presentation materials and create talking points on sustainability and ESG-related topics for engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and support and track follow up activity
  • Undertake research projects and benchmarking analysis as needed on sustainability and ESG-related topics and themes, including facilitating outreach to Citi teams to help steward due diligence processes
  • Provide summaries, evaluations and analysis on relevant policy or market-related sustainability developments
  • Support efforts to drive forward Citi's sustainability and climate change strategy, including through quantitative analysis

Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree related to sustainability, environmental science, business or finance preferred
  • 4+ years' experience in sustainability, ESG, finance, investing or markets-related role
  • Knowledge or familiarity with corporate emissions reporting including GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and PCAF, and related target-setting guidance
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, proficient in Excel
  • Strong research and investigative skills, ability to evaluate and assess complex topics and creatively problem-solve
  • Strong program management skills, including the ability to create work plans and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional work ethic, ability to work under deadline and strong attention to detail
