Job Description

The AVP of Communications will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our organization's communication strategies. Reporting to the VP of Administration, the AVP of Communications will be responsible to ensure the strategy and delivery of compelling and effective communications that align with the company's goals and values.

Leadership and Strategy:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy that supports the organization's overall objectives.
• Provide strategic direction and guidance to the communications team, ensuring alignment with the company's mission and values.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance communication efforts.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Meetings to deliver effective communications and brand experience in all facets of AgriSompo.
Team Management:
• Supervise and mentor managers and sole contributors, providing support and guidance to facilitate their professional growth.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, setting clear goals and expectations for team members.
• Promote a positive and inclusive work culture, encouraging teamwork and cooperation among team members.
Content Development and Branding:
• Oversee brand development, the creation and delivery of high-quality written content, digital content, graphics, and videos that effectively communicate the organization's message to internal and external audiences in all media formats. Ensure all communications materials are consistent with the company's brand guidelines and messaging.
• Responsible for all branded communications, ensuring that the organization's brand identity is consistently represented across all channels and materials.
• Responsible for effective delivery of content to internal and external customers.
Media Relations:
• Act as a spokesperson and represent the organization in media interactions, press conferences, and interviews.
• Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers. External and Internal Communications:
• Develop and implement external communication plans, including press releases, media kits, and other public-facing materials.
• Create and execute internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged with company updates and initiatives.
Budget Management:
• Manage the communications department's budget, allocating resources efficiently and effectively to achieve departmental goals.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, public relations, and senior leadership, to ensure consistent messaging and brand representation.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand their communication needs and develop appropriate strategies to address them.
Position Requirement
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum 10 year's experience in leading and managing communications teams, preferably in a fast-paced corporate environment.
• Strong background in creating and executing successful communication strategies across various platforms, including digital and traditional media.
• Agriculture experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Demonstrated experience in media relations and working with journalists.
• Proficiency in utilizing communication tools and technologies.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with an ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach to leadership.
• A creative thinker with an eye for innovative communication methods.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.
Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
