The Aviation Quality Assurance Specialist possesses strong technical and regulatory knowledge and analytical skills associated with managing complex aircraft maintenance programs and major alterations projects. The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible to the Quality Assurance Manager for the performance of assigned duties and projects required to ensure compliance with the GMR Quality Assurance program and Federal Aviation Regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Developing, revising, and administering FAA Approved Aircraft Inspection Programs (AAIP) and Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL).
• Developing, revising, and administering aircraft Master Inspection Lists (MIL) compiling all inspection, scheduled maintenance, overhaul, service life limitation requirements, and Airworthiness Directives in accordance with the aircraft and engine manufacturer’s technical source documents.
• Generating aircraft Configuration Control Documents (CCD) by performing aircraft records research and inputting the applicable data in the aircraft Master Inspection Lists (MIL).
• Maintaining aircraft Configuration Control Documents current, updating applicable sections when new requirements have been published, when source documents have been revised and when the aircraft configuration has been altered.
• Administer aircraft maintenance tracking programs to include performing revisions and gap audits to manufacturer’s technical source documents and applying corrections as necessary.
• Monitoring new and recurring FAA Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer’s Service Bulletins; interpreting and disseminating complex technical data for proper corrective actions by field technicians.
• Performing aircraft acceptance inspections after EMS configuration completions and after major maintenance and/or modification shop visits, ensuring conformance with the aircraft TC, after market STC’s, engineering (DER) approved data, and FAA field approval data.
• Conforming aircraft to certification and operational regulatory requirements generating conformity inspection substantiating document files to obtain FAA approval for adding company aircraft to the GFL air carrier certificate.
• Performing a detailed quality review of GFL Depot Work Order documentation packages prior to aircraft return to service.
• Verifies All required inspections are performed, records, reports, and forms are properly completed prior to releasing a product for return to service
• Providing assistance to field technicians interpreting technical data and regulatory compliance matters.
• Verifies technical data used and documented by technicians is applicable and current
• Developing and maintaining a complete regulatory and technical publications library.
• Assists Tech Records with documenting aircraft historical records and maintenance tracking systems ensuring accuracy of data entered
• Providing technical and regulatory oversight of all major repairs and major alterations applied to company aircraft.
• Assists technicians with completion of Major Repair and Alteration FAA form 337
• Generating aircraft major alterations document packages; performing research of regulatory guidance and collaborating with FAA designated engineers, medical and aviation equipment manufacturers, company technical and medical staff, and alterations support vendors in order to compile a complete approved data file to address all aspects of the alteration and/or to submit for FAA field approvals.
• Generating aircraft major repair document packages; performing research of regulatory guidance and collaborating with FAA designated engineers, the aircraft manufacture’s technical support staff, GFL technical staff, and repair support vendors in order to compile a complete approved data file to address all aspects of the repair.
• Auditing aircraft maintenance records and generating work scopes for aircraft major maintenance and modification events.
• Generating, revising and administering aircraft Weight and Balance reports and associated Equipment Lists.
• Monitors and provides assistance in management of Suspect Unapproved Parts program
• Performs audits to ensure quality of maintenance, adherence to company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and safety.
• Conducts audit debriefings with company personnel. Prepares accurate and timely reports of all audit findings for maintenance management
• Performs Vendor audits to verify DOT Drug Program compliance and proper certification for services provided to the company.
• Performs periodic aircraft audits to ensure continuing conformity. This will include but not limited to inspection of the aircraft, the aircraft records and status reports for accuracy and proper tracking of historical records.
• Removes aircraft from service when deemed the aircraft is not airworthy.
• Removing aircraft from service when it has been determined that an error has been committed regarding the proper documentation of maintenance or an alteration that is in violation of the policy and procedures of the GMM and/or applicable 14CFR regulations.
• Directs the removal of any suspect or unapproved aircraft components and parts from inventory and ensuring such parts are segregated to ensure they are not installed on company aircraft.
• Returning aircraft to service after the performance of maintenance or an alteration in accordance with GMM policy and procedures, and applicable 14CFR regulations.
• Performs periodic Airworthiness Directive searches, updates and maintains the software tracking program
• Determines the effectiveness of internal company policies, procedures and regulatory compliance
• Reports quality and safety deficiency problems or trends to the Quality Assurance Manager and the Director of Maintenance
• Assists in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to minimize quality and safety related deficiencies
• Serves as an on-call Subject Matter Expert for Maintenance Related issues where specific guidance may be offered for the purpose of returning aircraft to an airworthy condition.
• Travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS

• FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate prefered
• FAA IA preferred
• Certificate of Completion of OEM Field Maintenance Courses, for company-maintained aircraft and engines (able to be obtained at a later date)
• Minimum 5 years turbine Powered Airplane experience required Don’t need helicopter as we are transferring all to sister company.
• Minimum 2 years with FAR Part 135 Operations, Quality Assurance / Control (Inspection) preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Web based Inventory / Maintenance Tracking Systems, Internet, E-mail.
