The University of Washington is seeking a dedicated individual to assist with a life history study of the Tinian Monarch, a recently delisted songbird, in the Northern Mariana Islands. The technician will work with the crew leader to conduct territory mapping via radio telemetry, bird banding, and nest searching. This is a seasonal position, starting April 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter and will end 4 months after starting (approximately July 31, 2024).
All work will be conducted on the Military Lease Lands on Tinian. Flights to and from Tinian will be provided. Shared housing and a field vehicle will be provided while on Tinian. Field and office work will be 40 hours per week. Tinian Island is a small, tropical island with about 3,000 residents. It is part of the CNMI, a commonwealth of the United States. The island is remote but is fully developed with stores, restaurants, and other infrastructure.
