Auxiliary Operator D

The Bethlehem Energy Center is a state-of-the-art, combined-cycle power plant fueled primarily by natural gas. The plant has a 3 x 3 x 1 combined-cycle configuration: three GE 7FA combustion turbine-generators (CTGs) exhausting at 1,140F to three Nooter/Eriksen heat-recovery steam generators (HRSGs) whose outputs are combined to feed one GE D11 steam turbine-generator.
The Auxiliary Operator D is responsible for the detailed training of Auxiliary Operators of lower grade; to perform work involved in the starting and stopping of the gas and steam turbine generating units, steam generators and to perform or direct the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant starting, stopping and operation of various types of complex auxiliary equipment associated with boilers, turbines, generators, water treatment facilities and power distribution.

Perform electrical switching operations; investigate trouble and perform emergency repair work on equipment and controls, both electrical and mechanical; to perform routine operational tests, and inspection; and to execute safe and effective LOTO's (Work Clearance) on all types of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor and record data available using various instruments, recording charts, annunciator systems and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures.
• Develop junior Auxiliary Operators.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance to keep the facility operational.
• Perform electrical switching operations; investigate trouble and perform emergency repair work on equipment and controls, both electrical and mechanical.
• Troubleshoot plant equipment to resolve operational problems.
• Perform routine operational tests, and inspection.
• Execute safe and effective LOTO's (Work Clearance) on all types of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Performs housekeeping daily around the facility.
• Work with supervision on inspection while carrying out duties.
• Communicate the conditions of plant system and equipment to others.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Should have considerable experience as an Auxiliary Operator C and fundamental knowledge and experience with mechanical equipment, process systems, steam and electrical theory related to duties of job.
• 2+ years Power Generation experience preferred.
