Description
Under routine supervision, is responsible for performing duties as Appeals clerk. Is responsible for performing duties as Intake clerk, criminal, Account clerk and Juvenile clerk, in an auxiliary capacity to meet workload demands and/or in response to absences resulting from vacations, sick leave, etc.
Examples of Duties
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all?inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Prepare and assemble the appealed court case files according to the guidelines established by the Court of Appeals.
- Scan documents and file according.
- Fills in as criminal clerk in absence of other clerks at initial appearance, jail/bail hearings.
- Files documents in case files, mail run when needed and prepare and certify photocopies as requested.
- Fills in as juvenile clerk in absence of juvenile clerks at hearings.
- Perform record checks for inquiring agencies and individuals.
- Answers telephones and personal contact with the public at the counter.
- Copies entire criminal court file when request for court record is filed.
- Assists applicants with passport applications when needed.
- Balances cash taken during the daily business. Runs daily receipt reports and prepares bank deposits.
- Approves/processes payments made via Third Party Credit Card Company.
Typical Qualifications
Desirable Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic computer programs. Must be able to effectively work with public by personal contact or telephone. Proficient in legal and business English, spelling and grammar. Must have knowledge of court practices, procedures, and other legal references. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and efficient clerical processing methods. Ability to exercise discretion with regard to confidentiality of judicial proceedings.
Training and Experience:
High school graduate with 2 years experience in a law practice office or court related work.
