Forterra is seeking a highly skilled Autonomous Vehicle DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this
role, you will be responsible for maintaining software on Autonomous Vehicles, conducting network troubleshooting, and managing VPN solutions like OpenVPN and WireGuard. Your primary focus will be to ensure the smooth operation and performance of Autonomous Vehicle systems while also optimizing network connectivity and security.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Autonomous Vehicle systems for customers both on-site and remotely.
  • Configure and maintain Continuous Integration (CI/CD) Tools such as Jenkins and Docker.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication with both engineers and customers.
  • Thoroughly document work to facilitate continuous process improvement.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Linux System Administration, including hardware knowledge and expertise in command-line tools.
  • Develop automated tools using Ansible, Bash, and Python.
  • Strong problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and fulfill obligations to assigned programs.
  • Familiarity with installing and configuring firmware on embedded hardware devices, particularly on custom Linux distributions (especially Ubuntu), Android devices, and microcontrollers (STM).
  • Capability to configure various network devices, including wireless radios and network switches.
  • Commitment to maintaining proper documentation of system configuration changes.
  • Collaboration with technicians, engineers, and other DevOps team members to diagnose and resolve higher-level issues.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git for managing codebase changes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in compiling and customizing the Linux kernel to optimize system performance.
  • Experience with version control tools such as ClearCase, Git, Bitbucket, or similar for managing code repositories and versioning.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud-based services, including EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM, for deploying and managing applications in the cloud.
  • Knowledge of VPN configuration for establishing secure network connections between different systems and networks.
  • Expertise in container frameworks such as Docker for packaging, distributing, and managing applications within containers.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for automating the configuration and management of systems and software.
  • Experience in deploying software to embedded computers and remote systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality in diverse environments.
  • Proficiency in reviewing network traffic and diagnosing issues to ensure optimal network performance and security.
  • Experience in troubleshooting network-related problems, including connectivity issues, latency, packet loss, and bandwidth constraints.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and analysis tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar for capturing and analyzing network packets.
  • Understanding of network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols.

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field.
