Our Fleet Mechanic will maintain a full range of automotive maintenance and repair needed to keep all TEI Fleet and equipment in good running condition, including gas and diesel engines. Responsible for inspecting automotive, and/or equipment to determine necessary corrective action by performing diagnostic tests and repairing problems.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keeps equipment in use by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters, etc.
- Keeps fleet and equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Listens to operator complaints; conducts inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
- Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
MINOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
- Oversees supplies and maintains hand tools to accomplish daily duties.
- Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
- Keeps supplies ready by keeping inventory of stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Clean and organize shop area daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle problems; complete diagnostics in a timely manner; Knowledge and experience of welding practices; able to read and interpret technical manuals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Educational and experience requirements include: Six years' experience or equivalent combinations of training and experience.
Schedule is generally Monday through Friday. Schedule change may happen at any time. Overtime may be required.
