Position Title: Automation Mechanic / Maintenance Technician
Job Summary: The Automation Mechanic / Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of duties related to maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, as well as ensuring the overall functionality of the facility. This role requires a diverse skill set, including expertise in PLC systems, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, and a strong understanding of safety procedures.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Automation Mechanics or maintenance to include sewing and embroidery machines.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex automation systems.
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation.
- Knowledge of safety procedures for industrial machinery.
- Strong skills in HVAC, hand tools, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Proficient in using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
- Experience in machine repair, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and plant facilities.
- Troubleshoot and identify issues during scheduled maintenance requests.
- Organize inventory system for spare parts and tools to expedite repairs.
- Collaborate with team leaders to assist with repairs and parts orders.
- Follow all regulations, safety guidelines, and maintenance tasks to meet specific requirements.
- Embrace a teamwork philosophy to influence the team to meet or exceed production and quality goals.
Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machines and plant facility equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-related issues in production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Perform various plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report issues to the appropriate supervision.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas while complying with safety regulations.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The noise level can be loud in the work environment.
Physical Demands:
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee may need to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, with hours to be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent years of education and production maintenance experience.
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and Industrial skills, including some PLC experience and HVAC knowledge.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
Eligible to work in the US.
