Responsibilities
The Automation Engineer provides technical expertise on mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and improve automation projects, including designing and estimating new tooling, conveyors, part sorting/separation, and other quality focused automation. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting issues, training staff, ensuring legal and policy compliance, and coordinating cross-functionally from project initiation through implementation.
- Provide technical expertise for mechanical, electrical, and programmable logic controllers.
- Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and control automation projects.
- Evaluate, trouble shoot, analyze, and determine process improvements.
- Coordinate and communicate between various areas; train staff as needed.
- Prepare a plan to re-design and present such design ideas and changes for approval along with estimated costs of such projects.
- Work with Engineering on all new tool designs to prepare “new mold” EOAT (End of Arm Tooling) for part removal and associated tooling.
- Responsible for automation projects including layout of Conveyor / Camera / Sorting / Inspection and Part Separation / Quality improvement automation.
- Prepare Bill of Materials of products / parts / components required to complete automation design.
- Follow the organization's policies as well as any applicable laws while carrying out any of their duties.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Mechanical Engineering Technologies) or a combination of education and work experience will also satisfy this requirement. State of Nebraska Law requires a degree to be salaried.
- 2 years of automation work experience in manufacturing. (preferred)
- Design, build, and debug/launch experience, essentially cradle to grave background, including controller and programming.
- ABB robot programming experience, preferred.
- Must demonstrate knowledge in engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety

Pay:$80,000 to $95,000
