Automation Control Engineer
Primary responsibility would be designing automated systems for CNC machines. This entails using PLC control equipment, motion control equipment, safety control equipment, vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, network communications. These systems help our customers become more efficient and profitable.

Responsibilities:
- Design control systems based on mechanical design and intent.
- Troubleshoot electrical control systems through phone support.
- Ability to understand CNC controls and integrate external systems.
- Able to understand pneumatics and hydraulics and know how to control them.
- Troubleshoot robot, automation, electrical systems and controls issues.
- Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements.
- Program new installations of automation, material handling, and robots.
- Must be able to layout and design electrical controls to NFPA safety standards.
- Review risk assessments as part of a team evaluating equipment safety.
- Edit and maintain electrical schematics and drawings for existing product using CAD drawing software.
- Knowledge of typical alarms & how to remedy.
- Must be able to set up and design control panels for automation.
- Update program backups for automation.
- Working with PLC logic and controls.
Required:
- HS diploma or GED a must. Ideally someone with college education is preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must have 3+ years of experience with 2D drawing and ability to read Electrical Prints. Reading and understanding electrical drawings and schematics. Control Panel Layout & Design.
- Machine Builders Electrical Code (NFPA 79, CE Standards)
- 3+ years of experience with CAD type software, AutoCAD or Drawing Software experience.
- 3+ years of Servo Control, Hydraulics Systems and Mechanical design.
- Pneumatics and Hydraulic Experience.
- PLC Ladder Logic (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Direct Logic).
- Robotics and Motion Control is a plus.
- Industrial Communication Protocols.
- Safety Controls, i.e. E-Stop, Door Safety, etc.
- Must be able to set up and design control panels for automation.
- Candidate must be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
- Must be able to provide support and troubleshoot equipment by phone.
- Willing to travel up to 10% in effort to provide technical support.
