- Integrate spatial and analytical data using EWI's relational and GIS database.
- Creates CAD and/or GIS drawings for ongoing projects.
- Incorporates existing in-house data and public data sources (ex. Missouri Spatial Data Information Service (MSDIS), USGS, GeoSTRAT: shapefiles, imagery, and survey data) and drawing files into maps.
- Prepare technical drawings to assist EWI's engineering staff.
- Prepare geologic cross sections from hand-drawn figures
- Prepare soil boring/monitoring well logs from field notes using Strater
- Prepare 3D subsurface models using Voxler
- Assist with or lead field surveys using RTK GPS system with sub-centimeter accuracy.
- Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, compliance to standards.
- Work from drawings, sketches or scanned images, customer drawings, or government drawings or specifications.
Qualifications | CAD/GIS Specialist
- For insurability purposes a valid Driver's License is required.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree with AutoCAD and ArcGIS emphasis
- 1-3 years of related work experience preferred;
- Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- AutoCAD knowledge
- ESRI ArcGIS or similar program knowledge
- Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, Access, and Project)
- Cartography knowledge
Additional Desired Skills | CAD/GIS Specialist
- Golden Software Suite (Strater, Surfer, Voxler) Familiar with GPS (RTK) surveying equipment, preferably with units that are integrated with ESRI platforms
- A moderate-strong background in geology, hydrology, environmental science is a plus

Work Environment | CAD/GIS Specialist
This job operates in a professional office environment, though some field work may be warranted to support field surveying projects. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
This position is ideally full-time, but would be willing to consider part-time employment for a current student who is finishing up their degree in drafting or a related field. Days and hours of work and typically Monday through Friday however the ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work may be required.
