Layout & Design Team Overview:

The Advantage Sport & Fitness (ASF) Layout & Design Team acts in a supporting role to the ASF Sales Team. The main functions of the team are to provide 2D Room Layouts in AutoCAD for customers with both new and existing fitness facilities. The Layout and Design team also creates photo-realistic 3D Renderings of fitness spaces to help provide a conceptual vision to the customer. Lastly, the Layout and Design Team supports the Sales Team in questions regarding current facility infrastructure requirements.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

AutoCAD Shells:

• Complete 2D room “shells” in AutoCAD LT for the sales team upon request using provided drawings and information.
• Scale and ensure an accurately drawn room is provided from a variety of file types, including: hand-drawn/field-measured sketches, architectural plans in PDF, architectural plans in DWG, and others.
• Communicate with the sales team to set expectations on information needed, or timelines for request completion.
• Work with sales rep and/or customer to clarify or obtain further information when needed.

Team Support:

• As a member of the Layout and Design team, learn and understand the other duties performed by the team to serve as a backup to fellow team members when necessary. Including but not limited to:
• Staying current on Facility Infrastructure Requirements (media and networking solutions, ceiling height requirements, and flooring/anchoring requirements for functional training frame installation)
• Creating equipment floorplans in AutoCAD LT using provided “shells” and library of vendor equipment models.
• Using the proprietary OctApp software from Escape Fitness to create and distribute renders of custom frames for sales reps. Calculate frame and freight costs.
• Participate in bi-weekly team meetings to discuss team needs, industry trends, new layout standards, or other topics relevant to the continued growth of the Layout & Design Team.

Secondary Job Responsibilities:

3D Layout Design:

• Learn from the Facility Design Manager the process of turning 2D layouts into 3D renderings.
• Use a combination of Sketchup, for modeling, and Enscape for rendering, to create 3D layouts for sales reps, utilizing a 2D AutoCAD layout being the reference for room structure and equipment layout.
• Add customer branding and architectural details to room (floors, ceilings, walls, platforms, weight plates, shrouds) when necessary.
• Save still images of created 3D room and move them into a proposal format using Adobe InDesign
• Create and render a “flythrough” path of the created room to be used in a branded video tour of the space.
• Keep an open line of communication with the team leader (Facility Design Manager) and other team members (2D Design and Infrastructure Specialist) to discuss needs, ideas for improvement, etc.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Drafting & Design or commensurate experience in a related field or with AutoCAD
• 3+ years relevant work experience
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Experience using Sketchup or another 3D modeling software.

Location & Hours

This is a remote position with an anticipated workweek of approximately 40-45 hours. Generally, these hours should be worked Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM Eastern Standard Time to coordinate with ASF Ithaca, NY headquarters. Occasionally, extended hours may be required as business needs demand.

Compensation & Benefits:

The AutoCAD & Design Specialist is salaried, FLSA-nonexempt, permanent, full-time position, and is eligible for company benefits including health insurance, dental insurance, and 401(k). Salary is dependent upon qualifications with a range of $42,000-$52,000 per year.
