POSITION SUMMARY

The Paint 2 will have the ability to perform all duties and tasks of Paint 1 and in addition to must also apply the base and clear coats to the apparatus. They will sand out imperfections before paint application. The Pain 2 will tape, mask, and apply plastic cover to body and cab openings before coating. Also, they will prepare the truck for buffing station to streamline the process and maintain efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. All duties and tasks of Paint 1
  2. Applies the base and clear coats to the apparatus.
  3. Sands out imperfections before paint application.
  4. Tapes, masks, and applies plastic cover to body and cab openings before coating.
  5. Prepares the truck for buffing station to streamline the process and maintain efficiency.
  6. Utilizes pressure pot, sander, and blow gun efficiently to complete tasks.
  7. Maintenance on paint equipment and oversee bake booth.
  8. Applies Line X by applying basecoat and texture coat.
  9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Education:

  • Associates degree in Autobody or related.

Required Experience:

  • Experience using autobody grade paint

Preferred Experience:

  • 4 years in the autobody/industrial work force

Position Requirements:

  • Locate work orders and process them within the time allotment according to the work order, production schedule, and department objectives.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
  • You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
  • Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
  • Communicate progress of project to the appropriate Supervisor or Shift Lead.
  • Basic knowledge of air assisted tools.
  • Able to pass the paint respirator test.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s, including the ability to perform these operations using units of American money.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to learn how to run a computer terminal or PC.
  • No prior experience required (Incumbent will look up and/or enter information into a pre-formatted screen).

Decision Making:

  • Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor.
  • They follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur.
  • Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. There is no AC located in the shop, so it is usually humid and sometimes wet in the shop. Also, with no AC, it can become extremely hot in the shop during the summer. It is rarely cold in the shop with the bake booth being constantly ran. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop, which can make it difficult to talk or hear. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from the chemicals in the paint but following proper procedures should minimize risk. There are constant fumes being produced by the pressure pots and spraying of paint causing a lot of airborne particles in the air. Sometimes there can be low light when working on some areas of the truck. Space within the shop can be confined, causing limitations on any movement. When working in this position, there will be times were climbing onto or underneath trucks may be necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. The noise level of the Paint shop is moderate, so it is usually not difficult to talk or hear, unless near a running machine. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, shoulders, arms, legs, fingers, and hands for over 60 minutes at a time. As a Painter, climbing ladders, stooping or kneeling, and reaching are required to complete job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
