Job description

The Education Administrator I (EA I) will develop, administer, and evaluate educational programs and trainings related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) statewide. The EA I will be responsible for providing technical guidance in developing and implementing policy recommendations aimed at increasing the education, expertise, and capacity of DDS staff, regional centers (RCs), vendors, direct support providers, and system partners to support individuals on the autism spectrum across the lifespan and address their unique and complex needs. The EA I will coordinate with DDS offices and facilities, RCs, providers, state departments, universities, and other system partners to organize, develop, deliver, and assess educational programs, trainings, and materials related to ASD. The EA I will also collaborate with DDS' IDEA Specialist on projects related to statewide educational programming and transitions for children, adolescents, and young adults with ASD. Additionally, the EA I will provide expert consultation and technical assistance to Department staff, regional centers, state departments and agencies, and other system partners.
The EA I is expected to have expertise in ASD, evidence-based practices for supporting individuals on the autism spectrum, and be competent and knowledgeable in areas of equity, cultural and linguistic competency, inclusion, strengths-based approaches, person-centered practices, trauma informed care, and neurodiversity. The EA I will have relevant knowledge, credentials, and experience derived from prior work within the educational, academic, or DDS system.
The location for this position is to be determined, with availability in Sacramento and Orange Counties.
This position is eligible to participate in DDS' hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS' guidelines .

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Special Requirements
