About the position:
The successful candidate will possess:
Salary for Summer/Extended School Year is ten percent of annual salary, range from $6,044-$10,449 for the 2024-25 year.
Qualifications
CT Special Education certification (165) required.
Will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in a Special Education Teacher preparation program and are eligible for a Durational Shortage Area permit (DSAP).

ACES is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers who want to make a difference in the lives of our students enrolled in our Autism Programs.
- Science-based Approaches to Independence and Life Skills (SAILS) program at the Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders in Northford, CT
- Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) program at Village School in North Haven, CT.
About the position:
- Each classroom is co led by a certified Special Education Teacher and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This leadership team works collaboratively to develop student IEPs and programming using science-based instruction and the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Academic, social, life skills, and behavior intervention programs that promote functional independence are the focus of programming.
- Program implementation is delivered through a transdisciplinary team including Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Social Workers.
- This is a 196 day position with an additional 18 days for Extended School Year (ESY) in July.
- ACES teaching positions participate in the CT Teacher Retirement System.
The successful candidate will possess:
- knowledge and experience working with a student population with a wide range of academic, behavioral and social challenges.
- leadership qualities and personal characteristics needed to promote learning and building positive relationships with students, staff, parents and district liaisons.
- an understanding of teaching strategies inclusive of modifying curriculum, differentiating instruction, and classroom management.
- strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with team members, families and providers is essential.
- knowledge of assessment, IEP development, and planning for engagement.
- the desire to work in an environment that is collaborative, student centered, and values continuous learning.
