OVERVIEW:
The Division of Audit is seeking a highly talented individual who will represent our A.U.D.I.T. values (Accountability, Unity, Dependability, Integrity, and Trust) in all they do.
The Division of Audit provides a variety of training opportunities for its staff.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
As a Program Audit Manager, you will:
  • Oversee the audits of the Department conducted by the Office of State Audit, OIG and other federal agencies.
  • Ensure auditors get the information they need, Department staff understand requests for information, and the audit process stays on the timeline identified.
  • Work with Department program staff in developing responses to audit reports, findings, and corrective action plans.
  • Track all phases of the audit from request for information to the final issuance of the report.
  • Test corrective action plans developed by program staff to assess if they are meeting their intended purpose to ensure findings are closed.
  • Prepare documentation for quarterly Audit Committee meetings.
  • Conduct training for Department program staff on the audit process; internal controls, responding to findings and developing corrective action plan.
  • Mentor and provide supervision to audit staff by providing technical support and guidance to other auditors engaged in their audit assignments, by interpreting established department program reimbursement regulations and policies, and by performing staff case reviews.
  • Assist the Deputy Director in the oversight of the MAAP audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify, your must have:
  • a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and six years of professional level auditing experience including at least two years at a supervisory level; OR
  • an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience totaling ten (10) years.

The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate the following competencies:
1. Demonstrated ability to research laws, regulations, and highly technical accounting and/or policy issues and offer sound advice to Department Management.
2. Demonstrated experience in reviewing audit work papers prepared by junior auditors or CPAs.
3. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present and explain findings to senior management, Office Directors and program staff.
4. Highly organized self-starter capable of using professional judgement, prioritizing responsiveness, and applying analytical thought for problem resolution.
5. Ability to be flexible and adjust to business needs while balancing multiple tasks and priorities.
