Job Description

The Audit Methodology Lead supports the Head of Professional Practices and the Professional Practices Senior Audit Manager in maintaining the Corporate Audit Services (CAS) Audit Methodology in accordance with the IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practices of Internal Auditing and applicable regulatory guidance, such as the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) Heightened Standards and the Federal Reserve’s Supplemental Policy Statement on the Internal Audit Function and Its Outsourcing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain CAS Audit Methodology and CAS governance documents such as the CAS Department Charter, CAS Policy, CAS Policy Guidance, CAS Procedures, and templates.

  • Developing and facilitating training courses to communicate new or revised Audit Methodology, tools and techniques to the department timely and clearly.

  • Serve as the department’s Audit Methodology subject matter expert, including consulting with and advising audit teams in unique or complex situations.

  • Monitor and analyze new or revised IIA standards, guidance, and publications; make recommendations and lead the implementation of any action plans.

  • Perform gap assessments against new or revised internal audit-related requirements and guidance from U.S. and non-U.S. regulators, make recommendations to mitigate any gaps, and lead the implementation of any action plans.

  • Perform gap assessments against new or revised Company Policies and/or Company Standards, make recommendations to mitigate any gaps, lead the implementation of any action plans, and update the Enterprise Policy Management System as needed.

  • Prepare and review board, committee, and other stakeholder reporting for completeness, consistency with other internal audit materials, and accuracy of the most up-to-date information, not limited to information internal audit is reporting.

  • Perform other duties as requested by Audit Management.

This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at a U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Typically more than eight years of applicable experience

  • CIA, CPA or other relevant professional designation or advanced degree.

  • Expert-level understanding of Institute of Internal Auditors’ International Professional Practices Framework, including the IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards).

  • Expert-level knowledge of financial services regulatory requirements and guidance for internal audit (e.g., 2003 Interagency Policy Statement on the Internal Audit Function and its Outsourcing and 2013 Federal Reserve Bank Supplemental Policy Statement; OCC Guidelines Establishing Heightened Standards for Certain Large Insured National Banks, Insured Federal Savings Associations, and Insured Federal Branches; OCC Comptroller’s Handbook: Internal and External Audits Handbook).

  • Experience in developing and delivering high quality, creative and engaging training.

  • Relevant Financial Service Industry knowledge (e.g., Credit, Models, Regulatory Compliance, Lending, Operations, Trust, Treasury, Merchant Acquiring, Credit Cards [consumer and corporate], etc.).

  • Thorough understanding of governance, risk management and internal control concepts.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts.

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Proven adaptability to changing priorities.

  • Ability to build and continuously improve working relationships with CAS management and staff, as well as business line leaders and partners.

  • Ability to independently address unique and complex questions and challenges.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $112,880.00 - $132,800.00 - $146,080.00
