The primary role of the Audiovisual (AV) Programmer, IV Supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily operations of the Center of Excellence (Programming, Cad, Project Support), in conjunction with providing control systems programming code creation and support for it in the field. The areas of expertise are varied and require a high-level of detailed technical knowledge of audiovisual systems including networking, audio and video equipment and the associated software, and programming. This working supervisor position requires attention to detail, punctuality, good communication skills, and the skills needed to commission an audiovisual installation. The AV Programmer Level 4 (Supervisor) will contribute to the maintenance of companywide standards for control systems programming. This position requires working independently to create and edit control system programs using company programming standards. This position includes providing guidance to more junior level programmers. This position will require both remote and on-site assistance with the configuration, testing, and commissioning of AV/IT systems.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Must have supervisor/management/scheduling history of personnel resources or AV projects.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and manage several different projects at a time.
  • Must attain a CompTIA Network+ certification within two years of starting this position.
  • Must have an AVIXA CTS certification.
  • Must have two or more of the following certifications:
    1. Crestron Master Programmer
    2. Extron Certified Control Professional
    3. Extron Authorized Programmer
    4. QSC Q-SYS Level 2 Control
    5. AMX ACE
  • 8+ years’ previous experience providing technical AV/IT and/or programming.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including proficiency using Windows and Apple software.
  • Must have high proficiency using Python, HTML, C#Pro, or similar types of programming languages, as well as knowledge of digital communications protocols such as IP, RS232, RS485, and all forms of USB.
  • Must have proficiency in loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical user interface files from numerous AV manufacturers such as AMX, Crestron, Extron, and others.
  • Must have advanced proficiency configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
  • Must have proficiency using software, hand tools, and test equipment of the audiovisual and IT trades.
  • Projects vary in length and locations. Occasionally, jobs may be outside of the local area requiring overnight travel and stays that could range from one night to several nights away.
  • Must be able to sit at desk using a PC for long periods of time; some standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting, and carrying required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced programming and graphic touch panel interface layouts to assigned project teams for integrated AV/IT systems using primarily Crestron, AMX, and Extron, possibly C++, C#, VB, PHP, Java, HTML 5, and other programming languages as needed to meet project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide support and expertise to project teams through advanced programming, equipment configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Be point of contact during the design phase of projects for regional sales and engineers to validate system designs for programming viability.
  • Provide job site support by implementing, testing, and debugging control and graphical user interface code as an individual or as a part of a commissioning team.
  • Setup, configure, and test wired and wireless networks that support AV/IT systems.
  • Responsible for organizing, maintaining, and archiving all job-related code, graphic touch panel layouts, and programs on the company server.
  • Oversight of programming group’s archiving of job-related materials.
  • Work with the project team to prepare control system submittals as required.
  • During the job commissioning phase, assist with tasks required for job completion. Participate in an on-going dialog with the project team to ensure that the system’s quality and performance meets the job’s requirements to obtain a Final Acceptance approval from the client.
  • Identify and inform the Project Manager about change order opportunities as they arise.
  • Responsible for maintaining and archiving all job-related configuration files, code, graphic touch panel layouts, and programs in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for creating and managing the code repository in conjunction with the company-wide programming team.
  • Responsible for working with company-wide programming team to define the backup strategy.
  • Responsible for defining and overseeing the regional coding methodology and testing requirements for all code, including:
    1. Development cycle
    2. Code review
    3. Code testing and release
    4. Code archiving to repository
  • Maintain accountability amongst associate level programmers by conducting periodic code reviews.
  • Spearhead efforts that aim to increase coding efficiency, accuracy, and re-usability.
  • Encourage and participate in continuing education.
  • Provide task designation and scheduling for regional programmers.
  • Act as the primary trainer and mentor for new hires and trainees on the programming staff.
  • Provide system training to the owner or client when required.
  • Provide technical guidance to AV Field Engineers who may need occasional assistance.
  • Provide guidance to the local programming team in using good programming practices and contribute to the company-wide programming standards.
