JOB SUMMARY
The Audiologist diagnoses and treats patients with hearing issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conducts diagnostic hearing evaluation (pure tone/air bone conduction, speech)
  • Performs Immittance/Tympanometry Testing, Otoacoustic Testing, Sound field Testing (pediatric & attenuation measures), and Otoscopic Examination.
  • Obtain customized ear impressions, order and fit ear molds, earplugs, and hearing aids.
  • Maintain calibration of audio equipment and other related quality control testing.
  • Provide primary counseling on hearing loss, rehabilitation, hearing aid devices, and industrial adaptations to reduce hearing loss and function, and develop hearing loss conservation programs including acquiring hearing loss prevention products.
  • Hearing aid selection, fitting, ordering, programming, and repair.
  • Provides letters of recommendation for hearing impaired patients to meet their hearing needs.
  • Coordinates updates in hearing aid products and implements improvements to meet manufacturing company's needs.
  • Practices current knowledge regarding MSHA Part 62 regulation, OSHA 1910.95 29CFR regulations.
  • Provides hearing course instruction for MSHA as requested.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
    • Master's Degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology from an accredited ASHA program or Au.D. Degree
  • Licensure
    • State licensure by the Wyoming Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology
  • Certifications required
    • National Certification and member of National Hearing conservation Association preferred.
    • Maintains current national certification from the American Speech-Hearing Association or the American Board of Audiology.

  • Experience
    • 1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR) to maintain professional license.
  • Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline.
  • Current knowledge base of MSHA Part 62 regulation, OSHA 1910.95 29CFR regulations
  • Must be able to assess a patient's condition, formulate a plan of care, select appropriate interventions, evaluate patient response to care/treatment and to explain/teach patients about their condition/recovery.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions and under stressful conditions.
  • Analytical and reasoning skills with a high level of mental concentration and memory.
  • Ability to speak clearly to communicate and interact positively with patients, patient families, physicians, and staff to effectively care for the patients.
  • Computer Knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic record. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position.
  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages and apply developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the appropriate age of the patient. Ability to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge and skills.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in the following age groups:
    • Infant (Neonate to Age 1)
    • Pediatric (Age 1-11)
    • Adolescent (12-18)
    • Adult (19-64)
    • Geriatric (Age 65 and older)
