Overview
The Audio Visual (AV) Technician is an hourly, non-union position. This person will set up and run sound and video equipment for all club events. AV will be responsible for managing sound and multi-media inventory from set-up to strike. AV Technician will occasionally assist with instruments (back-line) and stage equipment (scenery) needs as needed. AV Technician will assist with Bohemian Grove events as needed. AV will need to work nights and weekends as needed. The technician will work under the supervision of the production manager who will delegate weekly schedule and responsibilities.
Duties and responsibilities
- Set-up and install sound and media equipment. Complete electrical and data wiring, programming and basic construction. Alter room arrangements include tables, seats and stages according to layout diagrams and schedules.
Customer/Member engagement
- While performing responsibilities AV technician must provide outstanding customer service and develop working relationships with the members. AV technician will need strong communication skills to coordinate between member services and production manager.
Operate and troubleshoot sound and video
- Technicians will be able to problem-solve and handle equipment malfunctions under pressure.
Electronic equipment repair
- Technician will clean and maintain all equipment. They will perform basic repairs, installation and maintenance of equipment. They will report all damages to the production manager.
Skills and Qualifications
-Computer Skills- Experience or able to learn various AV computer technologies. (Midas 32 sound console, Digico console, QSC speakers, etc.) Video (Data video switchers, Panasonic projectors, etc.)
-Trouble shooting- Troubleshooting all equipment in a timely manner.
-Physical fitness- Able to lift 75 pounds individually. Consistent standing, walking, climbing ladders and navigating small spaces.
-customer service- interfacing with guests on site to make sure their needs are met and equipment is functioning
-Organization Skills- Ensure the install of all tools, speakers, cables, boards and equipment. Ensure all items are returned to inventory after the event.
College Degree in Theater (Preferred) or 2+ yrs. equivalent in live events
