Job description

From concert and festival staging to LED screen rentals, corporate events, and video production, companies and organizations across the country have relied on Wired Production Group to meet their unique production needs for 20+ years. We build experiences from start to finish for concerts, festivals, fashion shows, conferences, nonprofit events, corporate meetings, and a host of other events.

The Audio Engineerperforms a variety of technical duties involved in the planning, audio system design, technical specs for proposals, coordination, and production of various audio-visual projects to support our clients’ needs in the entertainment and corporate environments. Key responsibilities include the consultation and systems engineering for set up and mixing production of live events and an unwavering focus on customer needs.

Job Responsibilities of the Audio Engineer

As an Audio Engineerat Wired Production Group, job responsibilities will include:

  • Represent the company in a professional and competent manner while in the office, shop, public, and on show site.
  • Work collaboratively in a high-performance team environment.
  • Design system requirements based on customer needs and location.
  • Ability to identify resources needed and individual responsibilities for productions.
  • Consult with the Production Manager and Account Managers on resources needed to complete projects.
  • Acts as point of contact for all technical needs with customers.
  • Ability to execute technical skills for live event production, specifically audio and basic lighting/staging/rigging knowledge.
  • Ability to lead and manage onsite technical direction.
  • Ability to manage and lead a stagehand crew and schedule for production on location.
  • Ability to mix audio for live music and corporate shows.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
  • Mentor or train other co-workers on a variety of equipment and technology when needed.
  • Drive company vehicles.
  • Must be able to travel and work some nights and weekends.
  • Research and specify new audio technologies and capabilities.
  • All other duties as business needs require.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school degree or equivalent
  • Two (2) years in live events or related field
  • Basic Signal Flow
  • Class B CDL Required at the time of hire or within six (6) months
  • Strong computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Competent with audio prediction and audio networking software - d&B Array Calc/R1, Dante Controller, Lake Controller
  • Ability to operate complex line array audio systems
  • Ability to operate various Digital Audio consoles and support gear
  • Ability to climb ladders and trailers, walk/stand for long periods, and pull/push up to 50 pounds
  • Skills using Google Docs and Internet navigation
  • Ability to provide expertise in Audio Visual needs based on event location and project scope
  • Able to manage multiple projects and details at any given time
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Leads by example by displaying a positive work ethic, attitude, and personal commitment to every internal and external customer need
  • Flexibility to accommodate customers’ changing needs
  • Experience that includes working in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Attentiveness to details -- before, during, and after events
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s license required
  • Ability to drive a company truck and effectively navigate and pull trailers

Roles may require the following:

  • Adaptability, enthusiasm, respect, trust, autonomy, ability to handle corrective criticism, even temperament and a positive approach to challenges and problem-solving
  • Willing to work flexible hours, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Willing to travel 25-30%; heaviest travel months are May - October
  • Overtime may be required to meet show and project needs

Physical Requirements: Climbing ladders and trailers, excessive walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling heavy objects, bending/kneeling/stooping/ twisting/reaching (including working aloft on a ladder, etc., while controlling an object), standing for long periods of time.

Pre-employment drug testing and background check are required.
