GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking one (3) month position that will assist the statewide spawning crew with egg collection from wild Salmonid and Walleye populations, and various hatchery Salmonid brood stocks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
  • Duties will include, but not be limited to, capturing wild fish using a variety of capture methods including electro-fishing, trap nets, in-stream weirs, and gill nets.
  • This position is required to work in various environmental conditions, using a variety of tools, and equipment, and some occasional lifting will be required.
  • Some equipment and grounds maintenance will be necessary.

Qualifications

Preference may be given to those with the equivalent of a high school diploma and to those who attach a resume with their on-line state application.

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Of fish, fisheries, spawning practices, and general fish egg care is ideal.
  • How to operate watercraft, 4WD vehicles, ATV's, and pulling trailers.
  • Maintaining equipment and facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This position requires extended stays (4-7 days) in camp trailers.
  • Some occasional lifting will be necessary.

NOTES:
  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • This position will run from April 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024.
  • Housing is provided at no charge to the employee.
  • Applicants should be interested in or pursuing a career in fisheries, wildlife, or resource management.
  • Waders, uniforms, rain gear, and other necessary gear will be provided.
  • No previous fisheries experience is required.
