Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated full-time Youth Attendant Care Providerto join our youth psychosocial team! The Attendant Care Provider is responsible for providing assistance and constructive guidance to individuals in completing daily tasks and activities. This position will additionally provide training to youth in life and social skills in an individual or group setting. The Attendant Care Provider may be required to work at a specific organizational facility, an authorized community/program location and/or client home. Essential Job Duties:
- Provide transportation and accompany clients to and from activities and/or appointments to provide medically necessary direct care and support, as directed.
- Assist in providing structured and constructive activities that support the client’s treatment.
- Assist clients with learning and practicing daily living and social skills.
- Assist client in completing daily living tasks as needed.
- Assist clients with problem-solving daily living situations.
- Complete all required documentation thoroughly, on time and according to agency standards.
- Provide above services on an individual basis or in a group setting as required.
- Engage individuals in a positive, constructive, respectful and hopeful manner.
- Recognize and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences.
- Help others succeed by demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness and/or serious emotional disturbance, and the ability to react effectively in a wide variety of human service situations. Effectively manage conflict.
- Interact positively with other staff, members of the agency and team, including active participation in supervision activities, team meetings and training, etc.
- Will need reliable transportation and will be transporting clients in their personal vehicle. Required to carry and maintain comprehensive insurance as required by their state of residence, provide proof of current insurance, minimally twice a year, or upon request of management, and notify their supervisor if their auto insurance is suspended, canceled, or they no longer are maintaining coverage.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Prior experience providing effective, efficient healthcare/welfare services work preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with individuals.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Emotional and physical capacity to control and manage self if clients act out or behave in a verbal or physical manner.
- Ability to effectively use all devices, equipment, computer systems required to fulfill the essential functions of this position.
- Valid driver's license and current liability insurance.
