Job Description:
The Athletics and Communications Video Specialist is responsible for the creative implementation of video content for promotional use on a variety of digital platforms, with an emphasis on targeting prospective students. The specialist also will have responsibility for overseeing live streaming campus events including athletics, fine arts and more. The specialist is responsible for equipment care and maintenance, and supports the production of branded multi-image, multi-media and video presentations, a role that requires teamwork, technical skill and creativity.
  • Create promotional video content for targeted use on social media and institutional and athletics websites.
  • Create visual storytelling opportunities across multiple platforms, using streaming and video technology to inform, engage and entertain Central audiences and support the college's marketing goals. Key campus collaborators are the athletics, admission and Communications offices.
  • Coordinate the college's livestreaming services, with an emphasis on athletics. Understand the college's livestreaming capabilities and technology, serving as the point of contact for all livestream requests.
    • Set and maintain a production schedule prior to streams, including coordinating venues, collaborating with various teams on campus and overseeing on-location streaming events.
    • Perform system testing, pre- and post-production activities, and process video footage.
    • Transport, set up and operate video equipment, including lighting, staging, audio and other needs related to production quality.
    • Train, schedule and work with student employees and staff to support livestreaming and video creation/editing needs.
  • Oversee operation of college's videoboard and lead creation of its content for signature Athletics and academic events.
  • Coordinate the sharing of content for the college's partnership with Pella TV.
  • Additional work includes, but is not limited to:
    • Capturing video of events, activities, interviews, meetings, etc., as assigned.
    • Capturing highlights of selected events for swift transition to local TV stations.
    • Assist with the production and archiving of campus video and photography.
  • Possess and maintain technical expertise; track trends and innovations in the field; understand copyright regulations and privacy laws; test, repair, maintain equipment and recommend necessary purchases within budget parameters.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • One to five years of successful experience in videography, livestreaming and/or technology or media. Experience preferred in athletics communications/marketing, higher education, non-profit settings, journalism or related fields.
  • Experience and skill in video editing using Adobe software and video animation, and livestreaming software Hudl/BlueFrame, preferred. Competency in Word, Excel, WordPress, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suites and other creative software programs, and a willingness to learn institutional website posting procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of the video production process, including pre-production audio and video recording, lighting, editing, content delivery and digital asset management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Must have strong time management skills and be held accountable for meeting deadlines.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
