Job description

Summary

The Assurance Technician coordinates or performs Quality, HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment), and Risk support functions as part of the Assurance Team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Quality

  • Understand and support quality philosophy and initiatives.
  • Assist in formulation and maintenance of quality objectives aligned with corporate policies and goals as part of the Assurance Team.
  • Work with the Assurance Team and Project Management Teams to ensure:
  • Project Management Plans and dependent systems and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with the requirements of NANA Worley's standards consistent with specific location, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate training for and assist with formal and informal training and mentoring of employees in the NANA Worley Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of ISO 9001 and industry standards.
  • Monitor compliance with client criteria as well as state and national standards.  
  • Assist with planning and implementation of internal and external assessment (audit) activities per the NANA Worley QMS and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with and draw on the resources of the global Worley Quality Community.

HSSE

  • Coordinate the delivery, maintenance, inspections, issuance and tracking of personal protective equipment, arctic gear, and safety equipment as required.
  • Assist with tracking personal protective equipment inventory expenses.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of HSSE standards and regulations.
  • Act as Lead Floor Warden and provide support and assistance in regard to emergency procedures.
  • Assist in delivery and tracking of safety training and safe work practices based on regulatory, client, corporate, and project needs required in the office and at remote workplace sites.
  • Assist the Assurance Team in assigning and tracking training required of all employees based on common training requirements.
  • Assist with data entry, tracking and updates of safety related information within ISNetworld.
  • Work with Project Management Team to determine, implement, and track project-specific training needs.
  • Assist development and maintenance of electronic filing system for relevant HSSE documents.
  • Perform or assist with HSSE reporting, including completing reporting form(s) and data entry into applicable incident and status tracking databases.
  • Implement HSSE filing system:

o   Scan, upload, and file HSSE documents to include training records, HSSE Office Inspections, Incident Reports, Monthly Reporting, Site Travel Documentation, etc.

o   Assist with updates in the ISNetworld database (training tracking, monthly reporting, etc.).

o   Assist with review and archiving of HSSE related documents as per data retention requirements.

Risk

  • Assist with development and documentation of Company risk assessment and mitigation planning.
  •         Facilitate Project-specific risk assessment and mitigation planning process.
  • Maintain or assist with production and maintenance of risk assessment and mitigation documentation and records as required by NANA Worley QMS.
  •         Assist with Action Tracking of actions assigned to identified risks.
  • Contribute to monthly reviews and status reports for projects and programs as per contract requirements.
  •         Maintain a working knowledge of industry risk management standards and relevant regulations.

Other

  • Support New Hire Orientation, Lunch and Learns, and other Assurance training, promotion and awareness programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  Required:

o   A high school diploma or GED equivalent; and

o   A minimum of two years of progressive work experience related to HSSE, Risk Management, Quality Assurance, or other relevant disciplines; and

o   Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; and;

o   Ability to build positive relationships with employees, clients, and others.

  Preferred:

o   A degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

o   Additional progressive experience beyond the initial two years.

o   Proven track record of proficiency in database software such as Excel or Access.

o   Strong written and verbal communications skills.

o   Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently.

o   Self-motivated team player with the ability to prioritize work.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and quality related regulations, standards, contracts. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients, or employees of an organization. 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form. 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint); and database management software.

Certificates and Licenses:

None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory duties. This position may coordinate Risk, Quality, and/or HSSE activities and initiatives.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may have the opportunity to travel and work in a remote location overnight or longer, including the North Slope of Alaska. The employee could be occasionally exposed to work near mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and adverse outdoor weather conditions. The employee is expected to abide by all required safety regulations, behaviors, and conditions, as required at the local or remote work locations. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to severe outside weather conditions and perhaps the risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually quiet.
