The University of North Texas ( UNT) College of Music is the largest public university music program and one of the most respected comprehensive music schools in the United States. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
Teaching: Recruit, retain, and teach an outstanding enrollment of undergraduate and graduate classical piano students. Supervise graduate classical piano students, including doctoral documents.
Research/creative activities: Maintain an established national/international profile as a performing artist (as soloist with orchestra, chamber musician, recording artist)
Service: Participate fully in academic and professional activities, including service assignments, across the campus and the profession. Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, coaching chamber music and teaching piano literature classes.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in classical piano performance. Excellence as a teacher/recruiter/mentor and active, artist-level performer. Success in teaching at the college/university level. Success in chamber music. Artist-level performer of solo and chamber repertoire. High standards of professional ethics and collegiality.
The successful candidate will be expected to relocate to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and enthusiasm for commissioning/premiering/recording new works for piano, as well as for works outside the European canon. Proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding piano students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
