POSTING SUMMARY
The Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) component of the UVM Cancer Center (UVMCC) is responsible for developing, overseeing, and monitoring outcomes for cancer-related Research Training & education activities across UVM, the UVM Larner College of Medicine (LCOM), and UVM Medical Center (UVMMC), as well as community education efforts that serve and are informed by the needs of the multi-state UVMCC catchment area. These efforts directly support the goal of the UVMCC to meet National Cancer Institute (NCI) guidelines for attaining designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center.
In collaboration with the Associate Director for CRTEC, the Assistant Director will assist in development, administration, and coordination of cancer-related training within UVMCC and across the University. Specific efforts in this regard include: development of a rigorous and multifaceted cancer biology training program; attaining extramural grants to support Training and Education; and tracking and evaluating program and trainee outcomes. The Assistant
Director will interface with UVMCC leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating programming that provides training opportunities and career development pathways for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, post-graduate fellows, and early career faculty.
This position operates with a high degree of independence and must possess the ability to maintain and grow excellent relationships with multiple constituents internal to UVM and across the states of Vermont and New York.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
Bachelor’s degree in a related or specialized field and four to five years related experience required. Progressive experience in coordination, implementation, and administration of education related services. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and bring long-term projects to fruition in a highly matrixed environment. Ability to coordinate materials related to training grants and track career progression over time. Experience with Microsoft Office. Successful applicant must have superior interpersonal and communication skills, excellent time management and organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is required.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in educational programming and career development from high school to early career faculty. Previous experience in a Cancer Research Training and Education program. Strong computer skills. Experience with populating and generating reports from data management software.
