TactWare is seeking a Cloud Engineer/developer position to support in refactoring, developing, and sustaining digital platforms being modernized under our customer’s cloud migration efforts. Specifically, TactWare is looking for teammates able to perform application migrations from their existing on-premises datacenters into cloud service providers of their choice. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud concepts, migration strategies, and experience working with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. This position is fully remote.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cloud migration strategies for enterprise applications.
- Evaluate and select the most appropriate cloud platform for each application based on technical requirements, cost, and scalability needs.
- Design and execute cloud migration projects, including infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment.
- Automate cloud infrastructure and application deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Ensure the security and compliance of migrated applications in the cloud environment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Support the ongoing optimization and management of migrated applications in the cloud.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies and best practices.
- Robust communication with customers.
- Monitor systems performance and maintain operation.
- Control access to systems.
- Manage and maintain backups for systems.
- Update, configure, build, and maintain systems and support infrastructure.
- Record, troubleshoot and solve issues identified by users.
- Work independently and with other engineers on requirements development, system architecture and system design.
- Execute field operations support for customer event activities.
- Other duties, as assigned by the Sys Admin Team Lead or Infrastructure Lead.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in an Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from an ABET accredited program
- 0-5+ years of experience in a position related to the requirements, tasks, skills, and responsibilities listed in this requisition

Desired Skills
- Experience containerizing applications, deploying them, and scaling them on demand using industry standard systems such as Kubernetes.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, databases, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, and Artifactory.
- Experience with working in DevSecOps tool chains.
- 0-5+ years of software development expertise in an object-oriented programming language.
- Experience with creating, managing, and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory tenants and deploying resources.
- Modernizing existing enterprise-level software applications for migration to the cloud.
- Understanding and applying zero trust architectural concepts.
- Experience working with DoD’s Platform One Big Bang GitOps development.
- Deploying Kubernetes clusters in air-gapped environments.
- Understanding of modern TCP/IP networking fundamentals for LAN/WAN.
- Experience with Virtual Machines and hardware virtualization technology (VMWare).
- Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO) via SAML2/OIDC, Multifactor Authentication and PKI.
- Experience with DISA STIG processes/procedures.
