Job Title
Associate Vice President of Workforce Solutions
Job Description
Incumbent has responsibility for providing leadership in all aspects of Workforce training and solutions for the MGCCC district. Incumbent reports directly to MGCCC's Vice President for Teaching & Learning and Community Campus.
Job Duties
  1. Provide leadership of all Workforce, Apprenticeship, and Continuing Education programmatic activities, budgets, equipment, facilities, and mobile training units.
  2. Serve as the college point of contact in establishing and maintaining rapport with business/industry and economic development organizations in the district to determine career-technical and workforce needs while informing employers of MGCCC programs and services.
  3. Recommend new programs and services to meet the needs of the community in accordance with AccelerateMS, Office of Workforce Development, Mississippi Community College Board, State Department of Education, MGCCC procedures, MMA-MEP, and other state agencies.
  4. Establish and launch programs for business and industry partners, including items such as business model development, purchasing, recruiting, marketing, event planning, and curriculum development.
  5. Monitor data input for all Workforce, Apprenticeship, and Continuing Education projects to ensure compliance with accountability system. This includes the accountability systems in alignment with AccelerateMS's guidelines, including the state workforforce system (WESS), Smartsheet, FAST plan submission, and quarterly reports.
  6. Establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the College's goals and objectives, especially in workforce; this includes recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of unit staff.
  7. Coordinate and manage the College's Workforce/Continuing Education software system, currently Augusoft Lumens.
  8. Serve as the Workforce and Apprenticeship instructional leader by observing classrooms/labs/shops to review programs, provide feedback to improve teaching methodology, and research/plan new or upgraded facilities.
  9. Pursue and accomplish Excelerate 2030 through strategic planning and assessment processes for the MGCCC district; develop short- and long-term goals and objectives for Workforce Solutions.
  10. Be responsible monitoring inventory, upkeep, maintenance, and safety for the Workforce and Apprenticeship training programs.
  11. Manage workforce and other training projects while providing reports as required, both internal and external. This includes providing guidance and advice to business and industry partners (e.g., training plan). This also includes maintaining proper documentation for the workforce audit.
  12. Monitor Workforce, Apprenticeship, and Continuing Education budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility. Work closely with MGCCC's District Office to ensure proper accounting for Workforce and Continuing Education projects.
  13. Provide updates and information on Workforce needs to the Teaching & Learning Division, Workforce Team, and Vice President for Teaching & Learning and Community Campus. This includes monitoring and predicting labor market trends and community needs.
  14. Supervise Workforce, Apprenticeship, and Continuing Education efforts and respective office staff.
  15. Work closely with Adult Education programs including correctional facilities, community groups, WIN Centers, and other company basic skills programs in meeting company needs.
  16. Work as an integral part of Teaching & Learning, Adult Education, Grants, and other facets of Community Campus.
  17. Serve as the College liaison for MGCCC Workforce meetings, such as councils, MDES, MCCB, and MDE.
  18. Serve on college committees and councils as assigned.
  19. Represent the College and the Vice President for Teaching & Learning and Community Campus at conferences, seminars, and state/national Workforce meetings.
  20. Provide leadership for Work Keys testing and assist in coordination of the College's Career Readiness Certificate program at various locations within the district.
  21. Provide support and assistance in the acquisition and implementation of external grant programs and other special projects.
  22. Complete reports and special assignments in a timely manner, including preparation for audits in Workforce.
  23. Adhere to all MGCCC policies and procedures and participate in College activities.
  24. Ensure excellence and high professional standards in all work performed.
  25. Work flexible hours as needed.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Earned master's degree, or higher, in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; or in exceptional cases, earned bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and significant executive leadership experience with a business or industry.
(M2) Full-time supervisory experience that would indicate competence in workforce training or business operations.
(M3) Superior written and interpersonal communication skills.
(M4) Demonstrated experience with Project Management.
(M5) Demonstrated experience budgeting and managing budgets.
(M6) Experience in coordinating special projects and/or instructional initiatives.
(M7) Proficient computing skills in a networked environment, familiarity with basic Internet and e-mail, including Microsoft Office Applications.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Earned doctorate in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
(D2) Experience with Customer Relationship Management software.
(D3) Work experience in a multi-campus community college or university environment.
(D4) Demonstrated experience with emerging technologies and non-traditional delivery of instruction.
(D5) Manufacturing or IT industry experience.
