Position Summary
The Associate Tax Consultant assists and supports team members in performing Business Personal Property assessment reviews for DMA clients, to achieve maximum tax savings and provide other state and local tax consulting services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support for team members in the client review process, including audits and appeals.
- Prepares return and fixed asset reconciliations.
- Research and collect information to populate DMA’s review database system. Enter new cases, client assessment details, and jurisdictional tax information.
- Prepares reports and analyses supporting DMA’s position for clients. Prepares Reports of Findings letters and responsible for general correspondence with clients.
- Attend on-site inspection of client property (one-day trips only)
- Assist in preparing documents for production entry and billing process.
- Track and monitor all relevant jurisdictional deadlines associated with return filings, audits, informal and formal appeals & protests.
- Research and follow industry or market activity/trends in assigned geographic area.
- Research and follow state and local tax issues, legislation, court cases, etc.
- Perform much of the above in collaboration with or supervised by Consultants, Tax Managers and Directors.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years professional experience
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated problem-solving
- Attention to detail, well organized and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and deadlines
- Valid driver’s license
- Travel as required (approximately 10%)
