Associate Scientist - Reagent Discovery

IDEXX is growing rapidly and is seeking to hire an Associate Scientist in the Reagent Discovery team. In this role, you will perform a variety of scientific activities to support the discovery of reagents for novel biomarkers. You will join a scientifically diverse team including staff with expertise in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, protein expression and purification. You will design, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments to accelerate our rich pipeline of new products and technologies. What You'll Do:

• Perform protein expression in mammalian and bacterial cell culture.
• Utilize standardized processes to purify recombinant proteins.
• Perform SDS-PAGE, IEF, Western blot analysis of purified proteins.
• Perform characterization of protein/antibody interactions/conjugates (Octet/ITC/Spectroscopy) and enzyme kinetics.
• Perform conjugations, and validation of reagent molecules for assays.
• Maintain electronic lab notebook and databases, prepare reports, and make regular presentations to summarize results.
• As an integral member of our functional group, this individual will collaborate closely with other team members within R&D.
• Strong technical aptitude for lab work, documentation, and a problem-solving mindset.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Bachelors in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related fields (3-5 years of relevant experience in industry or academic lab)
• Knowledge of protein expression/purification desirable.
• Aptitude for detail-oriented work and following SOPs
• Aptitude for learning new techniques
• Ability to run multiple workflows in parallel
• Ability to work independently or with limited direct supervision
• Fast learner with creative problem-solving ability
• Ability to present and communicate data at team meetings
