J H Operating Company, LLC, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firm primarily supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, has an opening at its office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for an Associate Facilities & Project Engineer.
The Associate Facility Engineer will assist in managing projects from concept to commissioning by participating in the design, specification and procurement, and project management of each facility. An associate supports the Facility Engineer and Project Manager in all project needs under the Facility Engineer’s close supervision. The role will primarily support the team on capital industrial infrastructure projects such as multi-well production facilities, large central gathering stations, oil terminals, pipelines, and saltwater disposals. The role and skill set is a critical in expanding JH’s services to the midstream and upstream sectors.
The position will report to Karla Orth, Vice President of Engineering.
Promotion can be anticipated after successful completion of a six-month period.
The role’s primary responsibilities are as follows:
· Client engagement
- Treat the client with respect and professionalism at all times.
- Seek to understand their needs and deliver timely solutions.
- Understand and manage your personal performance to promote JH teamwork and culture, while enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Maintain confidentiality of all JH and customer information.
- Assist in the gathering of project requirements, developing designs to meet the client’s needs, sizing and procuring equipment, & creating purchase orders.
- During the construction phase, assist with quality control documentation, invoice reviews, cost tracking, the creation of the job book, and client hand over.
- Review P&IDs (over time will be trained in Autodesk) to ensure a quality drafting package.
- Review internally and externally created P&ID, 3D, Orthogonal, & Isometric drawings.
- Participate in the hazard review process and other safety evaluations.
· Assists in process design supported by experienced engineers, by using ProMax and other in-house tools. When JH either does not have the experience or tool, research and create a process or tool to support the team.
· Participate in and help plan field-commissioning activities, particularly Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
· Become familiar with ASME, ANSI, and API standards and recommended practices as they relate to a given project
· An estimated 10% of travel time is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
· Bachelor of Science in an engineering or scientific discipline (minimum 3.5 GPA).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with clients, project team members and other staff. Domestic travel is required.
- Travel will include trips to plant sites, equipment fabricators, outside engineering firms, and customer locations (estimated at 10 – 15%).
- Ability to pass an in-depth drug screening
Preferred:
- Ability to make balanced decisions weighing operability, reliability, capital costs, and operating costs.
- Knowledge of API, ASME and ANSI standards.
· AutoCAD experience
· Programing in any language (Python, R, VBA, SQL, C, etc.)
