Required Related Experience:

Knowledge of psychological practices in a variety of clinical, teaching, and research environments, as well as a demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.
Previous experience providing psychological services through evidence-based psychotherapy, psychological testing and related services. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience collaborating with physicians in diagnosing and treating patients with mental health conditions. Experience in supervising other clinicians and serving in a leadership capacity is essential for this position. Evidence of high level of clinical and research experience in working with mental health professionals and patients to conduct research studies

Required License/Registration/Certification:

Current licensure (LCSW, Ph.D., LPP, LPCC, or the equivalent), or eligibility to obtain licensure and/or industry-standard board certification in the field of psychotherapy, psychological testing or related services to practice in the state of Kentucky.

Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking an Associate Professor to serve as a researcher, educator and clinician. The Associate Professor position in the Regular Title Series is required to expand the current research activity in the Department of Psychiatry. The position will provide faculty resources to continue and expand teaching, advising and other instructional activities for the Department of Psychiatry’s residency programs and the College of Medicine medical students and professional, university and public service. This position will allow the Department of Psychiatry to provide additional experience, training and service in psychotherapy and research to its patients in the field of eating disorders and mental health and allow an important learning experience for residents and medical students. Additionally the candidate must have an emerging or sustained track record of success in research including a history of submitting and/or receiving intramural or extramural funding as well as publishing articles in peer reviewed journals.

The Department employs physicians, psychologists, therapists and other mental health professionals to provide a wide variety of behavioral health and substance use treatment services at multiple locations. Our clinicians provide care at our UK Psychiatric & Behavioral Health Care Clinic at Fountain Court – Lexington, KY, Albert B. Chandler Hospital – Lexington, KY, Good Samaritan Hospital – Lexington, KY, Eastern State Hospital – Lexington, KY as well as various other clinics and departments throughout the UK HealthCare system and outside organizations throughout Kentucky. Our team of researchers are working to advance the understanding of behavioral health and how behavioral health conditions are managed and treated. Our department has five ACGME-certified residency training programs which focus on training more than 50 physicians each year to become the future leaders in psychiatry.
The Department of Psychiatry’s administrative, education and research offices are located near the Hamburg area of Lexington at 245 Fountain Ct., Lexington, KY, 40509. This off-campus location provides free onsite parking for employees and patients as well as a primary care/urgent care clinic and retail pharmacy that is accessible for both patients and employees.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to relate and communicate with internal and external faculty, staff, and other clients of the department. Demonstrated experience with research and providing psychotherapy or psychological testing services to adults, children and adolescents in an outpatient setting using evidence-based treatments.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Terminal degree such as Ph.D. is Psychology, Social Work or related discipline.
Evidence of high level of clinical and training/teaching competence in psychotherapyPrevious experience in providing psychiatric services, psychotherapy and/or psychological testing services, and serving as a clinician educator is preferred. Evidence of high level of clinical and research experience in working with mental health professionals and patients to conduct research studies
Demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment at the graduate or post graduate level.
