Job Summary:
The Department of Public Health offers nationally accredited degrees at the master's degree online and at the bachelor's level, both on the ground and online. We are inviting applications for an Associate Professor of Practice to join a collaborative and collegial department committed to providing student-centered, innovative instruction in Public Health to prepare students for a diverse range of career paths. This position will start on or after October 15, 2023, subject to the selected candidate's availability. The position is a full-time, twelve-month practice faculty (non-tenure track) appointment.

We are seeking a candidate to contribute to the overall vision and growth of the Bachelor's in Public Health Program. The candidate will offer undergraduate coursework focused on an introduction to Public Health, health disparities, and the socio-structural determinants of health, health policy, and epidemiology. The successful candidate will have an MPH, with evidence of effective Public Health experience and teaching excellence; prior success with online teaching will also be considered favorably.
Primary responsibilities include:
Carrying a 7-course teaching load per academic year.
Participating in the ongoing creation of explicit and implicit curricula in consultation with program faculty and leadership.
Supporting the department's assessment, planning, and documentation work to maintain accreditation through the Council on Education for Public Health.
Demonstrating service to the department, college, or university through committee work.
Academic Responsibility
Serve as course lead and instructor for on-the-ground courses primarily and occasional online courses.
Support course development and revision of classes.
Participate in ongoing Department curricular planning and periodic program review of on-the-ground and online classes.
Student Advising and Engagement:
Serve as primary faculty contact for matriculated students, including academic advising, resolving student concerns, and verifying graduation requirements.
With the Program Director and academic advising team ensure advising processes are carried out and monitor students' course plans and progress towards their degree objectives.
Other Duties:
Assume other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, MPH Program Director, and Bachelor's program director
Qualifications:
Master's of Public Health required.
Experience with teaching on the ground; online teaching experience is a plus.
Ability to work well with culturally diverse populations within an organization.
Must have advanced working knowledge of Google Workspace and MS Office Suite, and a strong ability to learn new systems, especially web-based applications and learning tools.
Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional planning and organizational skills, and proven experience in taking initiative and having ownership of projects.
Proven ability to perform duties with a high level of professionalism, flexibility, discretion, judgment, diplomacy, and tact.
Ability to manage concurrent project timelines, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
Term of Service:
The position will be a 12-month contract. This position will primarily involve on-the-ground teaching at our Boston campus.
