Our Global Procurement organization is tasked with sourcing a variety of product and service categories. These categories fall within several procurement areas: Marketing & Sales, Manufacturing, Information Digital Solutions, Research & Development, or Global Shared Services. The role acts as a business partner to these areas, aiming to minimize supply risk and secure competitive costs for products and services from our vendors.

The associate is responsible for leading the strategic sourcing process, encompassing strategy formulation, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and continuous supplier management. They will collaborate closely with the relevant business area to meet the needs through our external providers. This includes understanding the market to maintain a competitive edge, identifying new opportunities where relevant, and partnering with finance, quality, legal, and other functional groups to achieve the best business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management –

  • Understand the requirements of the business partners on a global basis
  • Educate business on procurement practices and policies to improve the value of the purchases
  • Build strong working relationships with business teams and functional leadership
  • Effectively use data and metrics to drive the optimal business outcomes and lead constant improvement efforts
  • Communicate proactively on projects and other results

Category Management –

  • Build and maintain category expertise
  • Develop and implement category strategies by assessing the current situation, anticipate needs, marketplace dynamics and benchmarking
  • Use data analytics to comprehend spending data and assess expenditure, demand, and process drivers.
  • Direct the process of identifying and selecting suppliers.
  • Guide the development of contracting strategies and coordinate the negotiation process.
  • Collaborate with the business to handle strategic relationships effectively.

General –

  • Partner with the business area to mitigate the risks, drive flexibility and reduce costs
  • Collaborate on cross functional procurement initiatives
  • Adhere to all corporate and procurement policies and procedures
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years work experience in Procurement or related area
Additional Preferences
  • Demonstrated capability to impact business decisions at the senior management level.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Previous direct negotiation experience and understanding of the commercial laws
  • Previous experience in handling third party relationships
  • Experience in working in a regulated environment
Other Information
  • This is a full-time position that will support Lilly sites in the US
  • Travel percentage: 0%-10%, dependent on business need
