Summary
The Material Coordination Department supports various areas within the company with materials, equipment and services. There are six Procurement Specialists within the Materials Coordination team, which is a subset of the Materials Management team within the Supply Chain organization.
As an Associate Procurement Specialist, your primary focus will be on enhancing substation crew efficiency by procuring materials and coordinating delivery of materials, services, and equipment along with ensuring timely payments to our suppliers. You will develop and implement procurement plans and strategies to support forecasted needs for business as well as establish and implement strategies for negotiating pricing and terms.
Your responsibilities extend to providing comprehensive support to Substation Operations construction, civil, & metal shop crews with material, equipment, and service coordination, as well as procurement activities working closely and backing up the maintenance crew Associate Procurement Specialist as needed. Overall, you'll contribute to development and output of procurement alignment, efficiency, and improvements within the organization.

*This is a hybrid position working at the Avery Operations Center 3 days a week. Summer hours start at 6:00 AM and Winter hours start at 7:00 am pacific time zone.
You will work with:

  • Planner/Schedulers to forecast upcoming jobs
  • GFs, Foreman, crews and Engineers on scheduling services, equipment rentals, vehicle transport, tool calibration, and purchasing materials.
  • Storeroom and Wireman Helpers to coordinate material and equipment deliveries & pick-ups at job sites

Day to Day
  • You will be creating and receipting purchase orders.
  • You will be responsible to apply accurate billing codes for each purchase.
  • You will be tracking and coordinating non-stock materials to job sites. At times you will "walk jobs" to best understand crew needs and assure that materials arrive in parallel to job sequence deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Sourcing Opportunities and Purchasing Strategy Designs, develops, implements and refines strategic category plans for assigned spend categories; obtains feedback from stakeholders to drive for process improvement and cost savings for a sustainable and efficient source-to-pay process.
  • Inventory Control May receive, organize and prioritize purchase requests, work with stakeholders to plan purchasing activities and conduct purchasing based on supply lists; may validate purchases against supply lists and work with suppliers to troubleshoot issues; may document purchases and coordinate with stakeholders to distribute supplies and inventory.
  • Purchasing Activities Conducts and coordinates purchasing support activities for assigned spend categories; develops requests for proposals and information and qualifications from suppliers; determines best method for procurement; negotiates pricing and obtains best value; complies with all legal requirements and regulatory deadlines.
  • Identification of Procurement Needs and Collaboration Coordinates with managers, project managers, contract administrators and suppliers to determine procurement needs for sourcing initiatives; creates time lines for procurement and drafts bids and proposals; ensures timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Solicitation Process Administration Assists in administering the solicitation process; identifies need, develops specification/scope, contacts identified suppliers, receives responses, schedules evaluation committee meetings, assists in selecting suppliers and negotiating contracts, prepares recommendation for award and award notice and develops and executes contract.
  • Contract Management Oversees contracts; applies extension options; monitors and rectifies contractor performance or nonperformance or decides which issues to escalate; composes formal notifications; monitors supplier performance reports.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Education Requires a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, finance or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience Typically one or more years in supply chain, category management/strategic sourcing or related field.
  • Valid Driver's License required

Preferred:
  • This job requires a strong ability to problem solve, maintain supplier relationships, and organization to ensure that equipment, services, and materials are handled promptly and correctly.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control practices and systems (depending on area of specialization)
  • Working knowledge of contracting and procurement methods, standards, procedures and processes
  • Working knowledge of business practices and market conditions applicable to program and technical requirements sufficient to evaluate bids, contractor responsibility and contractor performance
  • Basic skills in formulating sourcing strategies that accomplish performance and savings goals, anticipate potential threats or opportunities and are consistent with company goals and policies
  • Basic skills in negotiating contracts for goods and services Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise resource- planning systems and record systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SharePoint, eRecords)

PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite. This individual must be based within 75 miles of the work location and will be required to work in-the-office at least once a week. However, these arrangements may change due to business needs or changes in responsibility.

Compensation Range:
$60,975.00 - $101,625.00
