Kohl’s is hiring an Associate Planner to join our team in a hybrid role based in our Menomonee Falls, WI corporate office! As an Associate Planner, you’ll directly influence your buying office’s ability to meet financial plans and ensure customers are wowed every time they enter a Kohl’s store.
In the Associate Planner role, you are essentially the checkbook for your buying office. You will build brand category plans from the bottom up, analyzing historical data to forecast trends and then capture them through inventory deployment strategies.
What you’ll own
As an Associate Planner, you will work closely with the merchandising team, for your category of business, to provide financial plans and projections for your product assortments. You’ll work in multiple seasons at a time, offering insights into current results, as well as recommending future actions to drive profitable sales.
How you’ll work
While you’ll have direct ownership of the strategy to deliver on financial goals, this role is highly collaborative. You’ll partner with teams such as merchants, product development, supply chain, space planning, and digital (just to name a few!) to drive overall strategy and results as well as the best customer experience for your category.
You’ll also have the opportunity to coach others in more junior roles such as Kohl’s Inventory Analysts to evaluate weekly replenishment and inventory flow strategies.
Who you are
You have a minimum of two years retail merchandise or financial planning experience. You also have experience working with open-to-buy and retail math. Additionally, some capabilities that contribute to your success in this role:
Strategic thinker & creative problem solver: You’ll be faced with challenges outside of your control and you’ll need to seek out innovative solutions and make strategic decisions to move the business forward.
Effective communicator: The buying offices are highly collaborative, you’ll need to keep great lines of communication while working with management, cross functional partners, and vendors to reach your goals.
Multi-tasking master:Associate Planners live in multiple seasons at a time, balancing current insights while proactively planning ahead to see how we can grow.
Spreadsheet wizard:Associate Planners use a high degree of retail math in their daily work, monitoring sales performance, inventory, and margin goals. You will also analyze historical data to forecast trends. Even if you aren’t an Excel guru (yet!) you should be comfortable with the idea of working with spreadsheets and numbers in your daily work.
