Associate Pasteurizer

The Associate Pasteurizer has key responsibilities to ensure the quality of the dairy products we receive; ensure that cleaning and sanitation procedures are followed; and ensure that mixes we produce, and package meet company and customer standards and expectations. This position works under the guidance and direction of the Lead Pasteurizer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Check incoming dairy ingredients upon receipt for required product specifications (i.e., temperature, weight, proper seal, drug slip, wash tag, label, & lot number).
• Assure materials/ingredients have the proper receiving paperwork.
• Pump/move raw materials to properly tagged holding tanks, coordinating with Pasteurizer
• Maintain equipment (i.e., raw material tanks, vats, pasteurized tanks, the sugar tank, product lines, miscellaneous valves/washers/nuts/other parts, and utensils) and supplies (i.e., powder room, packaging storage area, ancillary materials storage area) in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Secure samples from ingredient storage tanks of milk or cream for QA testing.
• Obtain formulas from the Pasteurizer for mix production and pre-weigh mix powders (i.e., stabilizers, emulsifiers, sweeteners) and properly tag for mix batching.
• Assist in making batches as required and covering vacations for lead pasteurizer.
• Monitor and make appropriate notes on charts for the dairy ingredient tanks, pasteurization vats, short time (cooling press), and CIP wash system as required by State and Federal government.
• Code and label ingredient storage tanks and pasteurized tanks for identification and rotation.
• Package mix products as specified by the Pasteurizer.
• Visually inspect the bags and boxes used in packaging mix products for cleanliness and damage.
• Move packaged mix products into proper storage area and record actual amount of product packaged.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years' manufacturing experience required, preferably in the food processing industry.
• Knowledge & understanding of CIP cleaning procedures and processes
• Knowledge & understanding of manufacturing processes, GMP’s, & food safety

Skills/Qualifications

• Must work well unsupervised and be self-motivated.
• Knowledge/understanding of HACCP, GMPs, SOPs
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
• Proficient in MS Office Programs: Word, & Excel.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

• Ability to repetitively lift up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to see, hear and talk. Vision requirements include close, distance, color and peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
• Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, reach above head and lift from ground.
• Frequently required to climb or balance, push, steer, and manipulate small and large objects.
• Occasionally required to operate machinery.

Work Environment

• Wet floor areas.
• Working with concentrated cleaning chemicals.
