Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $19.33 - Midpoint: $24.18 (Hourly N5)

Department/Organization: 207551 - WVUA 23

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00pm to 11:00pm; some after hours.

Job Summary: The Associate Multimedia Journalist produces, reports, shoots, writes, voices, edits, and feeds news production content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to news consumers under general supervision. Adheres to the traditional tenets of journalism with reporting that effectively combines text, images, sound, video and graphics.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in broadcast communication, telecommunication and film, or journalism and some multi-media reporting experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of multi-media reporting experience; OR high school diploma or GED and four (4) years of multi-media reporting experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
May be required to work non-typical schedules, including weekends and special events. May work in inclement weather. Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 30 pounds.

Skills and Knowledge: Strong understanding of how news is delivered on multiple platforms. Maturity and judgment required to work in an environment with a commitment to training student journalists. Strong writing skills. Ability to turn content on a deadline under pressure. Exceptional communication, planning, and organizational skills. Team player. Proficient in the operation of a personal computer, as well as multi-media news gathering and editing equipment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with live shots and TVU or Live U.
