Associate Level Estimator Job Summary
Seeking a skilled Associate Estimator to join our team. We are a fast-paced Division 1 Statewide Florida General Contractor specializing in Commercial Ground-up, Tenant Improvement and Industrial projects. The ideal candidate will thrive in a deadline oriented, high-paced environment, work well independently and as part of a well-established Project Team.
The Associate Estimator will be supporting the Lead Estimator in creating profitable and competitive bids by assisting with the cost information needed for construction projects. Candidates are required to create, maintain, and distribute all departmental documentation, prepare client proposals, and transfer project information in an accurate and complete manner.
Associate Estimator Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
● 3 years’ minimum Commercial Construction, INCLUDES:
○ 2 years verifiable estimating experience with a preference toward experience with ground-up commercial projects, TI’s, and industrial development projects of a high complexity, scope, scale and professional responsibility.
● Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation; including quantity takeoff procedures and systems, subcontractor procurement, pricing, interdepartmental functions and bid-closing procedures.
● Complete and review full quantity take-offs of all labor, equipment, and materials from project documents and the identification of missing information..
● Working knowledge of estimating software, advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
● Develop and maintain vendor/subcontractor databases for upcoming projects.
● Prepare bid tracking and bid clarification spreadsheets.
● Establish and maintain working relationships with all trades, including the ability to solicit subcontractor partners and vendors.
● Provide detailed cost guidance/value engineering/alternatives; Test estimates for reasonableness based on comparable/equivalent historical experience.
● Collaborate with the Project Team during the estimating process to ensure overall accuracy.
● Perform bid-day assignments and supporting other estimators to successfully close various scopes.
● Provide "Presentation Draft" Proposals, present to management in a timely and professional manner.
Candidates Require the following Skills and Abilities:
● Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications to determine scope of work and responsibilities.
● Ability to draft, interpret and respond to formal RFI’s.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a priority
● High volume communication via phone,text or email w/equal clarity.
● Able to compose professional emails.
● Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams a must.
● Possess high organizational and time-management skills, with attention to the detail.
● Cognitive thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to follow directives on task prioritization.
● Thrive in a high-paced and at times stressful environment that is deadline oriented.
Compensation
Full Time Remote position (must be in EST time zone)
Starting Pay $60 to 70K commensurate with experience.
401K
