Welding Technology– 10 Month Associate Instructor Title: Welding Technology – 10 Month Associate Instructor Classification: Full-time Faculty – Grant Funded Position Office Location: Grundy County High School Hours: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, or as needed to fulfill duties of the position. Supervises: N/A Reports to: Vice President Minimum Qualifications: • Minimum of three (3) years of approved employment experience in Welding Technology; • High level skills in oral and written communication; • Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on-going projects, and the ability to work with others; • Proficient computer skills; • Ability to deal tactfully with the students, public, and co-workers; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; and • Possess a valid TN driver’s license. General Duties: The Welding Technology Instructor reports to the Vice President and is responsible for developing, planning, and preparing a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides, and keep these revised and up to date to meet the requirements of the industry. In addition, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with industry, high schools, and businesses to promote the Welding Technology program. Key Responsibilities – Essential Job Functions The Welding Technology Instructor is responsible for the following: ▪ Demonstrate a commitment to student success. ▪ Teach skills appropriate to the occupational area that will prepare students to become an economic asset. ▪ Guide students in selection, perception, and performance of suitable learning activities. ▪ Organize class time effectively and efficiently in order that learning activities can be accomplished. ▪ Examine, evaluate, and select textbooks and reference materials commensurate to the course being taught. ▪ Start and end class at designated time. ▪ Utilize individual and/or group instructional procedures appropriate to the requirements of the assigned activities and the students’ needs. ▪ Supervise student conduct to ensure that the potentially hazardous shops/labs/classrooms provide an orderly environment conducive to productivity. ▪ Maintain a well-organized, safe, and clean shop and/or classroom. ▪ Advise students of the importance of safety in relation to machinery, tools, and equipment. Welding Technology - McMinnville Job Description 11/23 TCAT - McMinnville Complies with Title VI, IX, 504 & ADA ▪ Investigate and make a full report on every accident on the day the accident occurs, using the “Preliminary Accident Report Form.” ▪ Be responsible for equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to shop and/or classroom. ▪ Maintain an inventory of equipment, controls storage, repair, and usage of materials to minimize loss or abuse. ▪ Keep and share with students continuously updated records of attendance and competencies acquired during their enrollment. ▪ Evaluate each student’s progress at multiple intervals during each trimester and complete permanent records. ▪ Requisition equipment, supplies, materials, and instructional aides as needed, working within the perimeters of school guidelines and available funds. ▪ Meet deadlines of yearly mandated training. ▪ Perform other duties directly related to career and technical education as assigned by the Vice President. Physical Demands and Working Requirements (ADA Requirements): Walking, climbing, bending, and stooping. Work performed in office, classroom, and shop/lab environments. Position requires the use of a computer. Salary: $39,773 - $47,728 annually. Employment Documents: Current federal law requires identification and eligibility verification prior to employment. Only U.S. citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United Sates may be employed. A criminal/financial background check will be required for applicants elected. Background checks will be completed on all new hires. Instructors will be asked to sign a background release authorizing TCAT - McMinnville to complete a background check which will include the following: Sex Offender Registry, Country Criminal, and Federal Criminal.
