D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Associate Hydrogeologist. The right candidate will assist the Project Manager with the collection of field data, quarterly and annual reporting, research pertaining to current and future projects, and hydrogeologic data analysis pertinent to the ongoing projects and future projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collect water level, water chemistry, precipitation, run-off, and other pertinent field data for Tule Desert, Clover Valley, and Kane Springs Valley. These responsibilities also include maintaining databases storing the field data and reporting data to the Nevada State Engineer with over-sight by the Project Manager
- Assist in geophysical studies related to specific locations and publication of studies in conjunction with the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology
- Direct and work with consultant teams in project data collection efforts
- Perform well drilling oversight, drill cuttings collections and analyses, aquifer testing, and other related tasks of well construction
- Construct water level contour maps, development of well hydrographs, using the data that is collected
- Analyze surface water data, create hydrographs and graphs of groundwater pumping and surface water and/or springs flows
- Draft technical memos providing documentation based on the field investigations
- Research and investigate water rights, water law, water appropriations, and water permits throughout the southwest
- Participate in public meetings and workshops
- Assist with the internship program
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Ability to travel overnight
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Natural Resources, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering or a related field from a four-year college or university
- Minimum four years of related experience and/or training
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
- The noise level is generally moderate
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in ArcGIS a plus
- Master's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Natural Resources, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field from a four-year college or university is a plus
