Target Title for Human Rights Investigator Trainee (Req 35347)

Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Associate Human Rights Investigator. Under direct supervision, this position will perform professional investigative work resulting from complaints alleging violation of Equal Employment Opportunity and/or Affirmative Action rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures. The position will gather and review information and conduct research to develop information. This position will conduct interviews to question complainants and employers regarding allegations and employer rebuttals. The position will also conduct fact-finding conferences involving both parties to enable complainants and employers to discuss allegations in a professional, controlled environment. Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as Associate Human Rights Investigator.

2. Conducts interviews to question complainants and employers regarding allegations and employer rebuttals.

3. Conducts or assists in conducting fact-finding conferences involving both parties to enable complainants and employers to discuss allegations in a professional, controlled environment and to enable questioning and rebuttal.

4. Prepares written reports of cases, including recommendations of actions to be taken.

5. During the investigatory process, assists in negotiating settlements between involved parties if both parties agree to conciliation.

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in business, public or personnel administration, or social sciences

2. Requires completion of an agency-sponsored training program

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to pass a background check.

2. Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
