Job description

  GCI's Associate Financial Analyst will provide accurate financial information and support corporate and departmental decision making by performing financial analyses and offering recommendations based on interpretation of analyses. Maintains financial records and adheres to controls and procedures for the financial stewardship and proper utilization of Company assets in compliance with Company policy and reporting requirements.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL LEVELS:

  Provide financial analysis of Group revenues, expenses, and costs of goods sold. Maintain oversight on operating costs. Develop and coordinate Business Cases. Develop, track, and report on group, Customer Budgets Sub-Contract invoice approval and payment. Provide input and data as requested by corporate level entities.    Develop EBITDA performance tracking updates for management. Develop rolling eight quarter forecasts of EBITDA and capital requirements. Monitor, track, and report on Labor and material expenditures. Comparison of business plan expectations to actual results. Create and maintain capital and operating budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses. Research all variances.   Answer internal and external audit questions. Maintain and administer processes/tools for financial and operational aspects of budget analysis, documentation, and reporting. Accurate and timely preparation of journal entries ranging from simple to complex with appropriate backup documentation to include creation and maintenance of supporting spreadsheets. Accurate, detailed, and timely analytical review of financial results fluctuations as needed.

  • Proficient computer skills and MS Office knowledge (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) to use the company intranet. Technical knowledge of accounting procedures and solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • DECISION MAKING: Uses sound, logical judgment based on department and company policy and procedures, data, research, and experience to choose an appropriate course of action. Demonstrated ability to analyze and report on complex, challenging problems and situations leading to optimal solutions in a logical, clear, and effective manner.
 

Level Definition

Position Title: Associate Financial Analyst

Grade: E05

Additional Job Requirements: This is an entry role and works under close supervision and guidance to support the financial team and management.   Works on less complex projects and assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis. 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field. *
  • Minimum of three (3) years in financial analysis, accounting, or finance. *

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
  • Knowledge of Oracle or equivalent accounting system, Microsoft Access, and Project.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • CPA or CFA certifications.
  • Other telecom industry specific certifications and/or job specific certifications.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel, such as, between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed. 
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:  

  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.
  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.
  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.  
  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary. 
  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers. 
  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.
