Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms.


Ginkgo believes that if we are to grow a thriving, sustainable bioeconomy, we must also grow a new market in biosecurity. Our biosecurity and public health initiative, Concentric by Ginkgo, launched a nationwide emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing end-to-end pathogen monitoring services to schools, communities, and travelers. As we continue to scale Concentric, our work is also evolving into new and exciting directions, from global expansion to the integration of new technologies and capabilities, including our Traveler-Based Genomic Surveillance Plan with the CDC.

Role Introduction:

To support our ambitious goals, the Biosecurity team is seeking a finance professional to lead the Strategic Finance function for our Biosecurity business. The Associate Director of Strategic Finance will play a key role managing core FP&A processes, partnering with the Biosecurity business & Corporate Finance as well as building an excellent Strategic Finance function. Your expertise will help us to achieve our commercial, operational, and financial goals. With your ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, you will drive the processes, people and tools to enable leaders across the business to translate financial information into action.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive the Biosecurity Strategic Finance evolution plan in line with the Biosecurity business’s evolution and plans
  • Lead key financial analytics including pricing and strategic analysis and partner with key functions to conduct long-range financial planning activities
  • Execute on special projects, including operational and strategic planning, systems changes, process improvements and other activities, as needed
  • Partner with the Biosecurity Accounting and Corporate Finance teams to drive strong coordination, reporting and synchronized planning between the Biosecurity business and Ginkgo corporate
  • Manage core FP&A processes including regular performance & financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting for the Biosecurity business through excellent partnership with the Biosecurity business

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as finance, engineering, or other related discipline
  • Minimum 6 years of Corporate FP&A and/or Strategic Finance experience
  • Proven experience building strong relationships and influencing technical business and operational decisions
  • Ability to consolidate financials into a concise and coherent narrative to share across the organization
  • Experience with pricing analysis and tracking across existing and emergent opportunities

Preferred Capabilities and Experience

  • MBA, master’s degree, or PhD is a plus
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to efficiently organize information, analyze large data sets, and present data in a clear and impactful manner
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with ability to work independently and adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a history of strong business judgment
  • Motivation for promoting Ginkgo’s culture of inclusion and collaboration to drive results
  • Enthusiasm about being a part of Ginkgo and specifically Biosecurity’s mission

Total compensation for this role is market driven, with a starting salary of $140k+, as well as company stock awards. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
