Title: Associate Director of Marketing Communications

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a climate-controlled handicap accessible high rise building in New York, NY close to public transportation and with a parking garage in close proximity. Company is responsible for providing management services to a Medical University. The Medical University is dedicated to breaking down the barriers that have prevented underrepresented minorities from obtaining medical education and practicing medicine in the United States. The Medical University offers a unique opportunity within for-profit education and an environment that values learning and professional development.
Work Schedule: 9:00AM to 5:00PM, with a 30-minute meal break, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required as well as nights and weekends on occasion.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Marketing Communications will play a fundamental role in the content strategy and development process of all creative concepts and copy designed for advertising and marketing materials across all platforms and will work closely with the creative team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Understanding the message Client aims to deliver and translating it into compelling advertising, editorial, and website copy that is on brand and will engage the reader
• Collaborating with members of the creative team by brainstorming, conceptualizing, and developing effective advertising campaigns
• Generating stand-alone copy or text to complement visual concepts developed by the creative team that cross many platforms including:
- Websites, emails, social media, blogs
- Marketing materials
- Digital advertising: banners, AdWords, sponsored content
- Print advertising: brochures, flyers, signage
- Press releases
- Letters
- Articles
• Revising, editing, and proofreading content as needed. Grammar and content accuracy is essential, although a proofreader may examine the final copy. This role is also responsible for checking spelling, grammar, and content after applying proofreader’s edits.
• Writing clear and persuasive copy using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques

Associate Director of Marketing Communications must have a wide range of creative capabilities including:
• The ability to think creatively, translate ideas into copy, and write a complete campaign from ideation through execution
• Experience in writing effective, succinct, grammatically correct copy
• Strong research skills that ensure all copy is correct and accurate

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field
Experience: Two years of professional communications experience in a marketing/advertising environment
Skills: Familiarity with Photoshop and InDesign a plus
Other Requirements: Experience with brands that target the millennial demographic
